2 Houses
I have a weekend house that I can't get cable or satellite; can I record in my primary house and then carry the TiVo box to my secondary and watch the shows?
Thanks.

Please, please, please explain why you think that you wouldn't be able to do this.

Get a second box and use MRV. Much easier.

I'm not sure..but don't both the Tivos have to be on the same subnetwork...not just the same account.

Other than a laptop (if you have one suitable to the task,go for that), I'd recommend a hacked Xbox or some HDD based media player, and convert the TiVo recordings to a format compatible with it. In a pinch you could use an iPod Video, I suppose.

Or buy a Humax DVD-burning TiVo, burn the shows to DVD-RW, and buy a cheap DVD player for your 2nd house.
No hacking required.

Yes. But you could get a second one, and transfer your weekend's viewing to the second box, and take that with you, leaving the main tivo to keep recording all weekend.
It seems like a fair question given the tivo's need to connect regularly to check programming, etc.

If he can't get cable or satellite, I'm betting broadband isn't available so Slingbox wouldn't be viable.
But TiVoToGo would be. With TiVo Desktop 2.3, TV Harmony AutoPilot, etc, you can automate transfers. You don't even need to carry a PC - have it auto-transfer to an external USB drive. Buy a couple of drives - carry one to the camp and leave the other at home to get filled with recordings, then swap when the next time you go up.
