Digital Auido Cable for SA 8300 won't Work with Series 3?
From the diagram I see in FAQ's it looks like it has to be a Digital Optical Cable. SA 8300 takes both, TiVo series 3 doesn't?

By "both" are you referring to Coaxial digital audio as well as Optical digital audio? If so, yes, the Series3 only has the Optical audio out for digital, no coaxial.

No problem, but you only need an optical (sometimes referred to as Toslink) audio cable, not "optical coax". Here's a pretty picture of one:
