I have two Samsung S4040R units. One is operational. The other I bought off of EBay for another room. To make a long story short, I can't activate the one I got off Ebay because the receiver ID is tied to a delinquent account (nice, huh?).. more on that later, perhaps.
Instead of it being a total loss, my plan is to salvage the hard drive on the doorstop and use it to upgrade my active S4040R. I'd like to know
(a) is this possible?
(b) what other steps do I need to do outside of simply taking the HD out of one unit and putting into another?
I have removed all recorded shows, season passes, and to-do list items in the inactive unit. I have also verified that the units are the same model. I have not opened either to inspect the hard drives.
