What software version do you have on your TiVo? 7.3 or later, yes. Before that, no.

The latest updates addded a Recently Deleted folder to the TiVo NPL that you can go into and undelete programs that were deleted by accident, etc.

Excuse my ignorance, but how can I find out what software version we have?

If there is not a Recently Deleted folder on your NPL, you have a version before 7.3

What TiVo model do you have?

I have a TiVo Series 2, model #TCD2400BA. Sorry, but here's another ignorance question: What's an NPL and how do I access it?

Thank you so much for your help and patience.

NPL = Now Playing List.

You probably shouldn't post your service #, quick edit the post and remove it.

That TiVo should have Recently Deleted folder,
it is at the bottom of the NPL.
Page Down to it, (channel down) enter on it then you can find the program you deleted,
it should be sorted by date, newest at the bottom,
click on it and it will give the option of recovering it.

Your software version can be found thusly:
From the main TiVo screen "Messages and Settings",
then "Account & System Information", then "System Information".
3rd line down, Software Version"

Sounds like its actually a TCD24008A

NPL - Now PLaying List

Good, my point of asking what model you had was to make sure that you are not using a DTivo or something other than a TIVO brand unit.

In your case, no, there is no way of getting back a deleted program. Now, what you need to do it get the update to your TiVo software and then you will have that option in the future.

I am suprised that your TiVo has not updated as of yet, as this update was release a few months ago now. Anyway, the newest software adds a Recently Deleted folder that will allow you to retrieve deleted programs before they are permanently deleted.

You can sign up for the update at tivo.com/priority (although the site seems to have a bad redirect at the current time) or sometimes forcing a call will get the update.

Recenty Deleted was a couple of software revisions ago.

If he's connecting to TiVo enough to have an up to date program guide, then he most likely has the latest software, at least the version with the Recently Deleted, as it sounds like he has the one key delete which came with the same revision.

Thats what I assumed, but you never know.

Lets start from the beginning -

What is your software version?
Is there a Recently Deleted folder at the bottom of your Now Playing List?

Thanks for your help. I went to the bottom of my NPL and there was that folder. Unfortunately, my program had already been permanently deleted because the TiVo needed the recording space.

Next time I'll know.

Thanks again,

Helen

Oops, assumed you were a "he".

Glad you figured it out,
now get watching so there's room for undeleting next time it happens.
