ER - "Bloodline" - OAD 09/21/2006 (Thursday)

I'm not sure if anyone's still watching, but to me this show has become a must-watch again simply because of Goran Visnic and Maura Tierney. They do such a fantastic job.

Oh, by the way ... how about that ending? Was it dramatic misdirection, and we'll find out later that Sam missed? Or did she really shoot her ex? I'm thinking he won't ever bother Sam and Alex again.

I'm thinking the ex is now very ex.

I enjoyed the season opener quite a bit. I did have to chuckle when next week's preview came on,

Spoiler:
"featuring the return of Sally Field and John Stamos"... John Stamos? Really? Getting equal billing with Sally Field? Stamos?

Well, why not. Stamos is why they bumped off Gallant.

I hated that song they played at the end of the last episode and the beginning of this one.

It seems every show nowadays must be acompanied by whiney alternative rock singers.

What happened to the intro? This episode was great. Way to go Neela!

Neela has finally found her stride as a doctor. She seems like she's going to be an excellent surgeon and Dubenko realizes it. It's why he pushes.

Poor Abby and Luka. I cried.

I somehow knew that Sam was going to go back and shoot him. She never wants to have to deal with him again. Plus, if it ever comes back, temporary insanity from the rape and imprisonment would probably get her off.

In the beginning of the show, Carrie walks out of the ER to all the police and commotion. First thing she does is look up. Guess she learned from Rocket Romano... When there is chaos, watch out for falling helicopters.

I thought Jerry might end up dead, since I saw Abraham Benrubi in Men in Tries, but then he pulled through. They can always hide him away in recovery for a few episodes until it's clear if Men in 'Friday Nights' Trees gets an early cancelleation.

Ok, Ok,... Ill keep my SP for now. The premier made me wonder what is going to happen next and the previews for next week solidified that.

But if I see another "Carter in Africa" episode, bye bye SP!

I started watching this about 20 minutes late, knowing "ok it's E.R will watch first 15 minutes, turn it off and then come back to it this weekend" But I have to say, this was pretty good, granted they had a lot to work from, from last years cliffhanger. I hope Kerrie is on more this year. Enjoyed this episode more than I did "Grays" eariler in the evening.

As soon as Sam's ex had the other folks in the shed, I knew he was going to kill them.

I'm glad Sam shot the guy.

Is Luka the Andy Sipowicz of ER, how much more are they going to do to this guy?

I missed a lot of last year as it went downhill.

So what happened with Carrie and the crutch. Did she go visit with Doctor House or something?

Everytime I watch this show, I'm struck by the lack of a strong lead cast member/doctor like Mark Green was. The cast now is just a big crowd of newbies and tired, stale characters who've exhausted their story lines. Having said that, though, it was a decent episode.

In last seasons cliff hanger didn't we see Abby in a pool of blood? Or at least a handful of blood as she went to the floor? My wife and I both remember that. But the SO didn't say or make anything of her bleeding, especially not a lot.

Then there was her in the OR concious?? The OB/GYN Doc told her she was going to get general anastesia because it was quicker. She was awake too while the Dr tried to stop the uterus bleeding.

Otherwise I'm expecting Sam to go through legal hell for shooting her old man. We can't be having citizens taking the law into our own hands. Just look at N.O. after Katrina where the Mayor and C.O.P. illegally confiscated legally owned firearms from law abiding citizens.

I guess you missed the huge bloodstain on the sheets later upstairs and the inability of her blood to clot, leading to the hysterectomy.

Am I stupid or what? I recorded this on my RePlayTV as a backup in the event the cable box on which I was also recording it in HD messed up, as it sometimes does. But it didn't, so I deleted it from the RePlay. Why did I delete it? I didn't need the space. I still had over 30 hours of free space. But I did. Anyway, I started watching it on the cable dvr and was interrupted after just a few minutes. I wanted to see it from the start, uninterrupted, so when I went to restart it I somehow selected "delete" instead of "play from beginning" and, poof, it was gone. So I'm stupid for deleting it from RePlay when there was no need to and I'm stupid for breezing through menu options without paying close attention to what I'm pressing "OK" for. I suppose I'll live, though.

this isn't law and order. I'm sure she will tell the whole truth except for the part he's sleeping and will be just fine. JR appeared to be sleeping so he didnt see it and unless another witness comes forward, she will do ANYTHING to prevent her kid getting hurt (ie mom in jail would definitely hurt her kid).

plus what jury is gonna convict her with all she went thru..self slam dunk all the way as long as the sleeping part stays quiet.

I am glad someone finally went thru and did something like this on tv instead of backing off and saying that they weren't worth it. That gets so predicatable.

I think he was upset because he didn't want his son to go through life taunted, "hey Joe, what do you know?"

Lucas may indeed be afraid that Abby and the baby won't make it ... he already lost his wife and children in the wars in the former Yugoslavia, and it's taken a very long time for him to find that trust and comfort again. I think it's just his frustration and fear that made him toss the can at the mirror.

Plus adding to that would be him being worried about Sam and Alex. He still cares about them both, even if he is with Abby. A lot for the guy to take.

that's so not the point...

if my baby was anything but 100% healthy, i would be devastated. i couldn't imagine having to sit with my baby in the nicu knowing that things could turn bad at any moment. he is worried, and frustrated, and sad, and angry all at the same time.

i thank god every day my kids are healthy so far.

I really loved the episode and found so much of an earlier ER in it. They pulled together and helped each other during the tragedy. Even to the point of Frank being upset with Jerry's injuries, Neela watching the surgery and then going in to assist. Nice.

I think Abby was still conscious because the doc told her anesthia and then Abby said no, she wanted to be awake. During the switchback from Jerry to Abby, I was afraid, very afraid that they would do the old "one dies, one lives" deal.

As for Sam and the ex. Well, I knew when he went into the shed those two were toast. After the sex/rape and Sam shooting him, it had me cheering...well maybe not cheering, but definately saying Do it! I am thinking she could call it self defense - she still has sperm in her to prove the rape. There is the huge car wreck that they caused and who knows who died in that. But I wonder if Sam will just say she snuck away and doesn't know what happened to him.

Luka is the only character I really enjoy anymore - he goes through the trials of Jobe. My all-time favorite is the episode where Carter goes to Africa to find him. But if you have the chance to go though the last 2 seasons and follow him from the time he breaks up with Abby initially to his comments of losing his faith with the Bishop (James Cromwell) to his remembering his wife and children's deaths to his downslide into depression with the hooker to his car wreck to his "rediscovering" of his faith and peace, to his being walked out on by Sam (good riddence I say) to now his relapse into darkness, then please do so. I think you find an appreciation for his character just as I did.

What I and the wife missed is the whole time they had Abby in the ER after Carrie found her is that there is no blood. We both remember blood on/around her when she slid down the wall last season. The blood issue didn't come up until she was in the OR.

You only looked at part of the 2nd statement;

"Otherwise I'm expecting Sam to go through legal hell for shooting her old man. We can't be having citizens taking the law into our own hands. Just look at N.O. after Katrina where the Mayor and C.O.P. illegally confiscated legally owned firearms from law abiding citizens"

My thought is that she will be arrested for murder, which she did, and dragged through court. Personally I think she did exactly the right thing. That man has put her through HELL for way too many years. So the statement does fit in exactly with this episode. Sam was bad, she used a gun and now has to pay.

Ok, SP is back on after at least a year hiatus (not even sure how long ago I got rid of it). The characters had started getting stale, but this episode renewed my interest. Great show!

I do remember it being discussed rather briefly, but don't remember all the details. However, I'm fairly sure that they mentioned the blood and gave some sort of medical jargon that explained it. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I'm fairly sure they did mention it.

Great episode.

Assuming Sam did actually kill him and didn't just shoot his legs or something to keep him from coming after her, I don't see her getting into any trouble for it. She was kidnapped and raped, and feared for her life after he killed the accomplices. Her use of deadly force to escape from him seems perfectly justifiable.

I kinda wondered at first why she didn't shoot him before leaving, knowing that the threat he posed to them both was too much to leave out there where she'd have to be in hiding for the rest of their lives. She should definitely go straight to the police and claim the rape and self-defense, but of course she won't out of shock or self-preservation...or more accurately, for storyline purposes. ;0)
Makes a girl think about how lucky they are to have gotten out of the dating scene without a scumbag like that to stalk you for the rest of your life...
