Will it ever be possible to be to access our HDtivo over the internet?
I want to be able to access my schedules and even setup shows for recording online. Will that ever be possible?

It's possible right now. Check out the underground forum and search for the "Zipper".

Are you sure the Zipper does it online? I thought it was just for local networks.

You just need to set up a local computer as a server to access the Tivo.
I use Orenosp - http://www.tivohelp.com/archive/tivo...ki.net/83.html

It totally depends what you mean by "access the HDTivo." If you mean for web interface, yes, the Zipper will work nicely. If you mean for video streaming/extraction, can't discuss that here.

Also, be advised that you will be creating a DMZ on your home network. If you don't understand the networking pros/cons of setting up a DMZ, then you need to investigate that first before you even think about setting up a web interface to your DTivo.

Why would you be setting up a DMZ? If you are just scheduling recordings through the internet, then you just need to forward the proper ports to the TiVo.

...and once you have it zippered or what other method you used to get networking enabled you could also use this new beta service https://gotomydvr.com/index.php which allows you to access your Tivo (using Tivowebplus) without opening ports on your home router.

By the way, does the slingbox work on a regular Verizon Wireless cell phone. I have the Motorola v710 and e815.

That's the first I heard that. I thought it was against the TOS but technically possible nonetheless. Meaning they might cancel your contract if you actually do it.

This is not true. You can use Slingbox on Verizon's network but it requires a PDA phone (Treo 700w, Samsung i730, Q etc.). The SlingMobile software requires WM5 or Windows Mobile Smartphone, so obviously you can't use a regular phone like the v710 or e815.

You are correct. It's against the TOS but you can definitely do it. I have yet to hear of anyone having their contract terminated because they were "Slinging". You would have to use the Slingbox a ridiculous amount of time per month for them to shut you off.

Slingbox and Verizon
i also add to the "I doubt Verizon will stop you from using your Slingbox" debate. as Verizon is currently a big advertiser on the Slingbox mobile forums with their "Q" phone. Things could change, of course, once it hits critical mass to affect their overall performance.
I have Slingbox, and Slingbox Mobile on my Spring 6700 and it kicks ass. Sprint EDVO is very good, and they (for now at least) have bandwidth to burn. I get almost 300K streaming on my 6700 on the train every day.
