That is my current position, but not by choice. I was unable to get the cable cards working in my Series3. So now I wait. Not sure exactly for what or for how long, though.

I dont think that is actually wrong if that was what people said. They very well might be surprised if it was double digits. They never said it wasn't double digits. They just said it would surprise them.

I dont think you do it on purpose but your words seem to come accross as abosulte facts. We're all in a rush so sometimes we dont type what we mean to say.

"With about half the people having some problems with CableCards installed.."

"Looks like between 20% and 40% of S3 owners trying to get the S3 to work with digital cable are having problems "

sounds like statements of fact. Tossing in a qaulifier like "based upon the responses here..." would make it sound more credible.

Just because someone wants the number to be low doesn't mean it is low. While I grant that the number of folks having problems getting digital cable to work is probably far lower than the 50% we see in some of the polls, there is no reason to believe that the number is less than "double digits".
I would totally agree. I think that's a great way to put it. It would be tough for anyone to quible if you worded it that way oiginally.

Okay, I'll be sure to make my statements more nitpick-proof then.

I wouldn't be surprised if the actual number is in the 20% range.

You'll note how often I use language that would make someone think that, like:

"if TiVo has actually released a product that they substantially cannot make work in a significant portion of their target market"

"So that would indeed be their fault"

"Looks like between 20% and 40%"

"I think 20% to 40% seems right on target."

I think people just try to object to anything they don't like to read -- no matter how carefully I word my statement to make it clear that I'm not presenting them as absolute facts.

could be- but i agree with you and the first time i read your statements they some how came off as absolute to me. (But now that you retyped them i actually see that was a leap....)
