Retiring a TiVo HD - Quick question

My new Roamio Plus will be here tomorrow, so my TiVO HD will be retired or relegated to some other use/space.

During setup I'm going to pull the CableCard from the HD and put it in the Roamio. My wife still has tons of shows on the HD. Can I hook up the HD to the TV via component video (and stereo audio - no receiver/amplifier involved) so she can watch/delete old shows on the HD? I'm thinking there's going to issues playing back 'protected' content without an HDCP signal? The only 2 HDMI inputs to the TV will be for the Roamio and my HTPC.

I'll keep the HD connected to my network, so I know I can transfer the old shows to the new box (right?) but it would be simpler for me to just let her switch TV inputs and watch/delete the old shows from the old HD.

Thanks! Sure looking forward to this upgrade!

You shouldn't have any problems viewing shows that are already recorded. I've done this with my son's HD moving it between home and college. There shouldn't be any issues using component versus HDMI either. I'm still using component with my 2 S3 OLED as my older receiver doesn't have any HDMI ports.

Do you have lifetime on the HD?

Scott

Thanks for the reply - appreciate it.

Yes, lifetime on the HD and the Roamio. I guess I could get about $200 or so for the HD? I put a 750GB hard drive in it and it's been rock solid for the entire eight years we've owned it. Kinda sad to see it go, but I can't really think of anything I'd use it for - getting a couple of Mini's soon for other rooms.

Thanks again.

You can still transfer (copy) the unprotected shows to view on the new Tivo. Just keep it connected on the network and on your tivo.com account, until you are done.

Turns out that was indeed the easiest. Thanks!
