The Race Is On!

Who will be the first non-beta tester to get their hands on S3?

FedEx tracking shows my S3 has shipped from CC and is to be delivered on 9/13 at ~3pm.

I'm thinking about going down to Best Buy and just picking one up. So I might have one tonight.

Does BB have them in stock in your area?

All I know is that anyone who doesn't have one by tomorrow morning is a big fat loser!

Mine from CC shows 9/13, too, but no time indicated.

According to the website they do. Although I've decided to wait until Monday anyway, as I want to see what happens with the rebate.

My S3 has arrived!
My wife just e-mailed to inform me that FedEx delivered the box at 2:45. Now, I just need to invent an excuse to leave work early.

How about "I'm sick". Don't mention that you're just sick of waiting for the Series 3.

Have your wife call, she's very ill and needs to be tended to? Heck, isn't the S3 excuse enough by itself?

Damn I might be the first one!!!!

Got mine today at the Best Buy in Laurel, MD - they got 5 in today, I got the first.

Comcast (Anne Arundel Co) is forcing the truck roll and I'm in class next week, so no cable cards until 9/23.

I'd post more, but I'm busy :-D

Do we know if the BestBuy availability widget actually correctly shows availability for the stores that have them now? I know that the first page is incorrectly saying "available" for all stores, but the second page still says that no stores in our area have it. I don't know if that's actually true or not. It seems likely that at least one of the six BestBuys around here has a few. I know I can call them, but I'm not sure I totally trust the answer I'd get there either (e.g. they'd not know what I'm talking about, and say "no," or they'd think I'm talking about the S2 and say "yes").

In my case it was completely wrong.

It says that my store in Portland, Oregon has them instock and available for pickup but after a quick call to the store they said they aren't getting them instock until late next week.

Is that the second page or the first page (after you click "check availabilty"), though? The first page you get to shows all stores in-stock. That's already been established. If you then "add to cart," and then click "select store" under the "pick up" option, it shows completely different availability. For me, at least, that stage shows no stores in-stock. I'm not sure if that's really true, or if it's also broken.

The second page worked for me - it went from available nowhere to just available at the Laurel store. They just got them in today...

Laurel, VA? I just checked that area, and it said out of stock for all of those stores too. Weird. I guess I'm just going to have to actually call them or go to the store to get the real story.

The second page where I specified select store it said it was in-stock. Two different calls to the store confirmed they had not received any units yet.

Yeah, I missed delivery from CC on mine by 15 minutes at lunch today...wife was out shopping, and FedEx required a sig. I'll get it tomorrow.....sigh...

It certainly appears that Circuit City was THE place to order the S3 for quickest delivery.

Laurel is in Maryland. It's actually not that far away from people living in Northern VA.

EDIT: Not that far is about an hour for me. Waiting for somone to pick up to see if it's in stock there.

Ah, thanks. For me, BestBuy.com still shows out of stock for all the stores in that area (at least, whatever BestBuy considers "that area" -- I don't know that part of the country at all): Laurel, Columbia, Arundel Mills, Bowie, Rockville, and Glen Burnie.

I can't find the series 3 on bestbuy.com. I searched for tivo, but
only the SD models came up.

Where are you guys finding the series 3 on bestbuy.com?

Thanks,
Don

They had 4 at 1500 today :-) The widget was working correctly showing they had stock, but didn't allow me to order online for in store pickup (fortunately the boss was out, so I escaped work at 1:30 )

Tell them that they had some - the first dude tried to tell me that the S2DT was the newest Tivo they had, I had to educate him....

I went into the BestBuy in Bellevue, WA, and they didn't have any. He looked it up in the computer, and it said they have 3 "in transit." He said that usually means a week or a week and a half (but I don't know how accurate that is). He showed me the screen with the other local stores, and none of them were showing stock either (they all had a few "in transit").

He claimed that Seattle is the fifth market to get things, so we're behind a lot of other places. I don't know if that's really true, but clearly they don't have any right now. Oh well.

I just checked the stores in my "area", about 100 mile radius, they all show in stock after I add to the basket. All 4 of them, let me select pick-up at store. I guess they feel people in FL wanted it faster than other area's.
I'm going to Destin tomorrow and will stop by the store to see what a $800 overpriced Tivo looks like up close, I need a new component video cable set anyway.

The S3 comes with both component and HDMI cables according to the megazone FAQ I believe.

Fry's Electronics in north Phoenix had 6 on the shelf when I went in to look after work tonight (around two hours ago). I bought one so there are now 5 left there also (I'm too impatient to wait for an online order, it's all about the instant gratification).

I am guessing since Fry's distributes everything to both stores in the Phoenix area from the one in Tempe by AZ Mills Mall that they should also have some in stock.

They are on the last isle of the store back by the TVs where all of the DVD players and VCRs are. Now to get a hold of Cox here and schedule some poorly trained monkey to come out and install cards that I could quite easily do myself for 35$...
