I recently upgraded the storage of my hr10 from 30 hours to 85 hours HD. Prior to the upgrade, I constantly had HD content rolling off the edge because I did not have time to watch it. I still watch some SD, but I can only think of one show in SD that I added as a SP in the last few months. I am not in the "watch bad content in HD before I watch good content in SD" camp. I have more of each type than I will ever have time to watch. I even have an NFL game (my favorite addiction) still waiting to be viewed. Another factor is that my tv does a pretty good job of upconverting SD content.
I still think of HD as a minimum requirement to check out a new show. Most of my WLs have HDTV in them. A new show must come with a very strong recommendation in order to get a look from me if it is in SD.

We just joined the HD camp 2 months ago. I am already surprised at how many good shows are not in HD - Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, Veronica Mars to name a few. Yes most of the season passes for ABC, NBC and CBS are now in HD and NFL is HD alone is worth it for me.

Veronica Mars is in HD this year isn't it?
If your CW station can broadcast it in HD that is.
The UPN station here couldn't last year,
so I'm not sure if it was even available in HD through stations that could.
Rescue Me needs to be in HD.
I would bet they are filming/taping it in HD, thus the letterbox, but since FX doesn't have an HD channel, they are holding out for HD syndication.

I have a friend who thinks I'm a major snob, but I just don't want to promote anything not in HD. There are a few shows I will watch like Psych and Eureka that are SD...but there are only a couple of exceptions.
Why settle for standard when there is something better?

I didn't start watching nip/tuck when it was first on, so I've been watching it on DVD, even though I could have gotten caught up either last year or this year because they've been releasing the previous season a good month before the new season premieres. It's not as dramatic a difference in picture quality as HD would be, but it's enough to keep me from downgrading to SD. I started Rescue Me from the beginning so I tolerate the SD for that one. It would be hard to wait all that time when I'm not already a year behind the original air dates.
Unless I've been misinformed, Veronica Mars has always been in HD, but at least in my case, the UPN affiliate (UPN 20 in D.C.) had an extremely weak signal up until about a month ago. It's moving to the future former WB affiliate anyway, which comes in great for me. I'm actually somewhat glad we procrastinated so long on starting that, so we didn't have to choose between waiting until S2 came out on DVD (last week) and watching it in SD. I'm sure we wouldn't have been able to wait though.

I switched for that very reason. I hit the guide button 3 times and it lists only the HD channels, all 34 of them, and that is all I choose from. Also INHD and FSNs have been uplinked, so they will go live soon. MMMMM more HD. Also Cinemax HD is getting ready to go.

Tom,
FYI, Battlestar Galactica is available in HD-Lite on UHD via D*.

While I have the whole showtime/hbo package, the only two channels from that group I will watch are the HD broadcasts. I used to watch Turner Classics, but now am pretty much limited to the premiums and UHD and HDnetMovies.
As a BSG fan, I do watch the Scifi SD versions. I cannot wait six months for the HD, although I watch and record those (on SD DVDs) when they are finally broadcast.
I'd rather watch an HD football game between two teams from out of my area than an SD broadcast of the local teams. And with NASCAR, I skipped most of the FX SD broadcasts this year (which is why I'm pleased that D* may have seen the light regarding the TNTHD NASCAR broadcasts, but that's another thread).

I have a little different scenario, I am on the west coast of Canada and have both Directv HD and my local HD cable. As a rule I only watch HD on either systems. I get all the network Channels in HD, abc, cbs, nbc, fox, plus the Canadian network channels about a dozen in total. Even though I have the full package on cable I only watch the HD. The same with Directv.

I got kind of lucky with BSG in HD. I never watched the first season, thinking BSG would be a cheesy show like the old BSG. I decided to rent the first episode on DVD and give it a shot. Of course I got totally hooked. I watched quite a few episodes on DVD until I caught up with the reruns on UHD. HD Lite is still WAY better than SD!

Yeah, I know. I just can't help myself, I have to watch the first run. Maybe they will start running HD and SD at the same time.

I've had HD since Nov 2005. I was quickly spoiled. I even watched ice melt on Sunrise Earth. I just am in love with HD. But I had to stop depending on all my viewing in HD. It was hurting the few shows I was watching in SD. I decided to just enjoy SD on the smaller TVs in the house which is not bad. And enjoy HD on the big screen. It makes the HD that much more enjoyable.

Now that would be awesome. BSG in HD and SD at the same time (or at least the same night or even the same week).

I upgraded from a 27" picture tube to a 58" HDTV DLP so the actual picture quality doesn't look very different then it did before. It's a little better but not so much. It's just that now my picture is much bigger and the picture quality is just as good (if not a drop better). I never had that wow factor that others talk about. Maybe it's because I never had a non-HD big screen or maybe it's because I use Directv HD channels (NY locals in the 80s and Directv channels in the 70s).
So if it's non-HD I'll probably just watch it on my 24" tube tv that I have as my second tv elsewhere.

I have really changed what I watch since I got my HD-TV in july. I watch pretty much all HD shows now I will put something on just because it is HD. The only exceptions are espnnews, rsn ,scifi and fx channels. It either has to be a sporting event or a high quality program like rescue me to watch it in SD. How I wish scifi and FX would go hd.
