One of my TiVos is broken - it stalls at the powering up screen. I called TiVo and they want money to fix it and I will also have to pay for shipping. Now I thought I would save myself some time and money by using another Tivo I have (identical model) and use dd or something to copy the drive over. Are there any instructions anywhere on how to do that?
If you use one of the readily available bootable Linux CDs to do your 'dd' copy, look for 'dd_rescue' on the disc - I like to use it because it has a nice display so you can see the progress of your copy.
