Tuner Issue = Dying Tivo?

So a couple of weeks ago I posted that I thought my MS was going bad because I was getting a lot of pixelation on some channels leading to the tivo telling me that there was no signal on Sat 2. Well after checking my other tivo's and realizing that they weren't experiencing the same problems, I realized it was isolated to one Tivo. The problems went away for a while but then they came back in force last night. I tried restarting and while the Tivo was trying to acquire info from the sat repeatedly, I kept getting a message that the tivo could 'not find any live TV'. I was able to watch from the Now Playing List, but I couldnt watch live. I tried to reacquire the channel guide and live programing overnight, but it just said something about a tuner error. Is this the beginning of the end?

I'm trying a Clear and Delete now, but I'm worried.

PT - 2 - This unit is from the very beginning (first month of release or so). Since it's out of warrantee, what is my recourse. I could swap it out for one of my other HR10s that's not used nearly as much and wait for the HR20, but if I called D* would they make me pay for a new one or would I have to lease a new one?

Thoughts and opinions welcome....

Thanks!

Doug

Are you using any diplexers to combine OTA with your sat signal? I was having the same problem a few months ago and found one of my diplexers went bad. After I removed the diplexer, ran dedicated RG6 for my OTA, my problem was solved.

Nope...no diplexed lines. I have separate lines for OTA and the 2 sat lines in......

Clear and delete finished and I went through the set up. When it got to the part of checking transponders and looking for each sat on each input I thought it would hang up, but I got 'ok' across the board......I'll let you know how it behaves tonight.

Thanks,
Doug

So I swapped 2 of my HR 10's and it now seems that the problem might be the multiswitch. The problems seem to persist even after I move the tivo I thought was a problem.

Will D* re-imburse me for a MS? It seems wrong that I'll have to go and pay a hundred bucks by myself. I installed my whole house so they've saved a ton of money already.

I could call up and have them install the whole new dish as well as a new MS, but that could take a while I would assume.

Thanks,
D

Is there a 30 day return policy on the MS you're buying?

Didn't buy it......It is the MS though. I thought I had the correct two lines that were for my primary HR10 (but I didn't). Once I realize the two I had to swap, I did so and now things are working perfectly. The bad output is now assigned to a set elsewhere in the house that hardly ever gets used.

I might keep it this way until I convert over the the new dish at which time, I'll have D* replace the MS. Thanks for everyone's help...
