Hard drive swap question??

Hi all. I have a phillips Direct Tivo which has a broken power supply and I have a hughes Direct Tivo that has a dead HD. It just died today. I put the phillips in the hughes and it booted up. It however tells me there is a hardware issue and to reboot. It will not let me record. Is there anyway for me to reover this HD? What do I need to do?

Thanks for your time and your help
Roger

Leave the hard drives where they were, and swap the power supply instead.

Well I did think of that but I was trying to avoid the phone call to Direct TV to move the cards around. Seems like it took forever the last time I had to do that.

Assuming that they are both series 2 units, you should be able to swap hard drives. You need to do a "clear and delete everything" to get the drive to work without the error.

They would have to both be the same version or the drive swap never would have worked and the DTivo would not have booted up. A series 2 DTivo drive would never get past the welcome screen if you attempted to boot it in a series 1 DTivo or vice versa. The Clear & delete everything will work on either version to clear the hardware error #51 mesage.
