Getting recorded programs off of a DirecTV TiVo

I've got a TiVo DirecTV receiver that I'm in the process of swapping out and have some programs on it that I want to save to DVD. What I am wondering is could I connect that TiVo to my Media Center PC and be able to record programs that I've saved on the TiVo to DVD's recorded on the PC? If that's possible what would be the correct way to make the connections?

The TiVo is a Series 2 (Philips) DirecTV receiver/TiVo. It has a USB port in it but I don't think that port has ever been enabled.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

USB ports are not active without modifications, and all of your current programs are encrypted so connecting to your pc is not an option unless you have a video capture card in your pc.
Your best bet is to get a standalone dvd recorder and burn your programs to DVD.

I also have a MCE Computer. If your tivo is not hacked, you can hook up the tivo to the MCE computer with the RCA Jacks or get a cheap DVD recorder. Either way you will have to use the save to VCR feature on the Tivo.

Use "save to VCR"....or just replay the program normally and press "record' on the DVd burner or VCR....Keep it simple!! I just replay the program and pause the DVD burner/VRC during commercials.....fast forward the tivo to the end of the commercials...then press record again on the burner/VCR. My finished product is the program only....no commercials. And delete the program off of Tivo afterwards. SO easy....LOL

T1V0 -

Since I have a Media Center 2005 PC with a TV Tuner card in it and I am able to record off a older DirecTV receiver to it would that take care of having a video capture card?

Thanks for the reply...

The TiVo I have is a DirecTV receiver and TiVo that is unhacked. It sounds like you would hook it to the MCE computer the same way I suggested if I understood you correctly.

Thanks for the reply.

Exactly. If you have coaxial or composite inputs on your PC, then any device with matching outputs can be recorded on the PC.

When I get some time I'll give recording a try. Thanks for the info.

You would hook it up to the MCE computer the same way you would hook it up to a stereo vcr.
