Project Runway: 306 - 8/16 Waste Not, Want Not (Spoilers)
I'm needing these episodes like a drug fix. I only wish they were on more often.
This episode seemed like a strange challenge, but then again, it's not the first time. I can't even imagine where they get their inspiration to create from garbage. I must say though that there were a couple of really nice outfits. Most looked like garbage (not in a recycle kinda way) when all was said and done, but Vincent's was just awful. IMO, he should have been the one to go. Maybe it's 'cuz I just don't like him, but I thought his outfit was MUCH worse than Allison's. Boy, did she look stressed and exhausted at the end of the day though. I'm really sad to see her go. I thought she was a lot of fun and just had that happy personality that was needed in the midst of all these egos.
My favorite designer is still Laura. She's heads and shoulders above the rest and I love that she added a little spark of fun in her otherwise very classy outfit. Go Laura!! I must say though that it is a little disconcerting when she gets her feathers ruffled and goes off on someone. Not underservingly, but it just seems out of place coming from her. I'd normally say "Laura, don't stoop down to Vincent's level", but I'll never pass up a chance to see someone tell him off.
My top 3 this week:
Laura (my winner), Uli, Michael
My bottom 3 this week:
Vincent (my loser), Kayne, Allison (only 'cuz the awful hairbow...otherwise I'd go with someone else, probably Jeffrey)

I like Laura's clothes, but I can't stand her snotty attitude. Other people who irk me are Vincent and Jeffrey.
I wish they had taken past challenges into account more when dismissing Allison. She was clearly superior overall to Vincent. But, really, that model did end up looking fat and lumpy in the dress.

My two top favorites are Uli and Michael. I think Michael is going to win it.
Laura is talented but is unnecessarily condescending towards others.
Can you say B-I-A-T-C-H?

You know, I don't even think I'd noticed Michael until last week. He's really been doing some great stuff lately. I'm gonna have to go back and see what I overlooked.
Yeah, Laura's been a little uppity, but as long as it's geared toward Vincent or Jeffrey I'll allow it. ;0)

Even though I hate him, I gotta give props to Jeffery this week. That dress was awsome and I really thought it would win. Granted, Michael's was beautiful too. I also loved Laura's dress and as for her "attitude", everyone has gotta have a little bitch in them. She just has enough confidence to not have to hide it.
As for the losers, why oh WHY did Allison have to put that god-awful hair bow on her model??? We could have gotten rid of Vincent if not for the horrendous styling. Kayne got lucky this week and I'm sure he knows it.

I like that Kayne was humble about his dress. He knew it was bad and admitted it, unlike Vincent who's either completely blind or as insane as we already think he is. ;0)
P.S. I think that hair bow should take the place of the dress on the wall of shame.

I refuse to believe Alison is off the show, I'm heartbroken.
I thought Jeffrey should have won, Michael is a favorite and the design was nice but I agree with Jeffrey that it was plain.
Why don't you shove some Harry Winstons up your nose!
WTF?!? Is that supposed to be a slam on her being glam? Vincent should have been gone several shows ago and I can't wait until he's out.

Yes, but, this is fashion.
It's all about the moment and what garment would sell and what wouldn't. It doesn't matter who you are, if the dress du jour is a dog, the customer won't buy it. Period.
Edited to add: don't get me wrong, I want Vincent gone as much as anybody. He drives me nuts. I would not want to buy clothes from this man. He will fixate on some idea and then that's it, he's stuck and he won't take critcism and clings to his 'vision' beyond all reason, whether the thing is working or not. But at the same time, he's insecure about his designs and any little harsh word will send him into a frenzy of anxiety.
I respect someone like Kayne who can recognize that sometimes the design process fails and you end up with a dog. He'll learn from that mistake and move on. I think Allison would have, too, if they had kept her instead of Vincent.

I agree with this 100%. My wife was not all that thrilled about my scream of anger when they told Allison she was out, but she liked her a lot, as well. Allison will be missed. It's just so annoying that a designer who is obviously talented falters one week and meanwhile, Vincent, aka Woody Allen, gets to stick around and design more space alien clothes.
Laura is too much, but I thought Kane overreacted a bit with the "I'm not going to sit here and get berated on live TV." It really didnt' seem like he was actually getting berrated. I blame his reaction more on stress and nerves than Laura's actions.
As the quoted post states, I also kind of think Jeffrey was robbed. I liked Michaels, but I thought Jeffrey was the clear winner.

If you listen to Tim's podcast, you'll hear that *all* the designers were ripping on Vincent after the show. He was trying to defend his model's walk/stumble/shuffle down the runway and Laura got the bad edit there. He's a moron. It's in one ear, out the other. No, it never even makes it *in* his ears as the only voice(s) he can hear in his head are his own. Alison got so incredibly screwed it wasn't even funny. She's been consistently good and Vincent has been in the bottom 3 at least 3 or 4 times. Hodi, shove your plus-size comments up your nose.

and that after he and his little drama queen tv boyfriend Robert spent all that time ripping Laura while she wasn't even there. Pot, meet Kettle.

Good point. At least Laura acts bitchy to everyone's face, not just behind their back.
That said, I really like both Robert and Kane. They are both pretty catty, but they are funny and entertaining.

I agree with every word you typed.
I was sorry to see Allison go as I think Vincent is a plant to make the show more "entertaining." I swear he's a Ben Stiller character.

I thought Vincent should have gone as well. BUT If you think about it, which dress do you think a woman would buy? Something you can't walk in but is flattering to your figure, or something you can walk in but makes you look fat?
Before you answer think of all the women wearing shoes that hurt their feet because they think it makes them look good.
I'm just saying I don't think it was an such obvious choice as it's being made out to be.
Not to mention that it looks like Heidi is rooting for him.

lol, well as a woman, I can honestly say that I prefer big, baggy sweats (comfort) rather than jeans (more flattering). Yeah, I buy both for different occasions, so I guess it just comes down to taste.
P.S. I didn't think Vincent's dress was flattering in any sense of the word...not even to the figure.

In the eyes of the judges Alison comitted a bigger sin than Vincent by making a good-figured woman look fat and bad. In fashion, it seems some sins (making a woman look fat) are worse than others (space alien clothes).
The thing about elimination shows like Project Runway is that as the number of contestants dwindles, people with no talent are eventually exposed for what they are and eliminated. Vincent's day is coming very soon - I'm sure of that. He doesn't have enough Wendy Pepper or Santino Rice qualities for the producers to save him based on entertainment value.

I should rephrase my remarks. I am under the impression that there is a segment of the female population that would often wear uncomfortable shoes if they thought the shoes were flattering. I would think that this number would climb when going out for an occasion. The dresses on the show imply such an occasion. When attending an occasion that would warrant such a dress I believe that (flattering+no walking)>(make you look fat+walking).
Under all the crap Vincent put on the top of the dress was a figure flattering base. That was my first impression; I will go back and see if I was blind last night later.

You're absolutely correct! Although I'd take sweats over fashion any day, it is still fun to dress up and look nice. Problem is that I think I'd rather be seen in Alison's dress than in Vincent's. Granted, I'd have to lop off that sci-fi shoulder thing, but still better than looking like I rolled around in my kids' sticker garbage...
I don't remember Vincent's having a flattering silhouette, but I may have just been too blinded by the ugliness of it to notice, lol.

Vincent: "It's art. I love it!"
Heide: "But your model can't walk in it."
Vincent: "I love it. It gets me off."
WTF? Seriously. I love clothes, and I love art, but his dress, was not art. And I've never ran around a museum or been flipping through my Vogue thinking I liked something I saw so much I would ever say it got me off. Freak.

I can't imagine that this dress seriously got him off, but would be afraid to even think of what does it for him. FREAK is right!
