Overwhelmed - just trying to add a 2nd drive!!

Hello fellow TiVo users!

I've been reading and digging through these forums, only to find some rather interesting - and at times conflicting - information... I'm looking to add a SECOND hard drive to my TiVo, but not sure what thing seems to be the BEST course of action to follow! I'm comfortable with hardware, and doing many upgrades already to my home PC, but hacks, programs, backups, images, etc, etc for this little TiVo of mine is all new.

Any thoughts, suggestions or bits of help to offer?

You should consider replacing your drive with a larger single drive. In two drive TiVos, if one drive fails, the TiVo will not work. Single drive TiVos are thus more reliable. As a bonus, you can save your original drive as a backup.

You might want to download PTVUpgrade's InstantCake upgrade utility ....

It's the easiest upgrade path, short of simply buying a pre-imaged upgrade drive.
