Last Comic Standing 8/8 *spoilers*

All right, I'll be the first again...(although I reserve the right to repost after I rewatch the episode 'cuz there were several things I wanted to mention that I'm sure I've forgotten by now)

Chris leaving...no surprise there. That was expected, but I sure look forward to seeing him in the future, hopefully with a tuned-up act. I do believe he could be a riot, but his material just fell flat toward the end.

Last comic downloaded? Hmmm...interesting. They were both all right. Seemed like they had more material than the comics we've been watching...until Theo (isn't he from Real World?) did the KFed jokes. I KNOW I've heard those before! Did he steal them? The first guy (another Josh) was actually pretty funny. Theo might have been, but I was already turned off after hearing regurgitated jokes.

Speaking of regurgitated jokes...what was with Ty tonight? This is the last head-to-head and he's pulling out jokes from previous sets?! If he was going to do that, he should have at least picked his bestest...errr, I mean goodest. Ugh! Other than those I thought he had some decent jokes in the set. I have never really been able to get into race jokes (I do try!), so those put a damper on the whole set for me. I think his best joke was the lead one about the murder mystery train...the subway.

Josh Blue...he's the man, but I was really, really hoping for more non-CP jokes this week. Don't get me wrong, his CP jokes are very clever and it makes sense to use stuff from your everyday life. I was just hoping to dispel all the "He's getting pity votes" thoughts, but after tonight's set being almost all CP jokes, those thoughts aren't going to go away any time soon.

I think I preferred Josh tonight, but not by as much as most nights. They both did a decent job and I hope that their material only gets better from here.

P.S. I am already hearing the inevitable controversy: "People thought they were voting for Josh from the Last Comic Downloaded, and the votes were really put toward Josh Blue...not fair!"
What's a show like this without voting controversy, right?

Ok, will be back after watching the show again with more comments.

Haven't rewatched it yet, but was lying in bed thinking about it and remembered one that I loved...
I wasn't sure I like the reference to Gabe's blackberry again until he followed it up...
I have to admit some things...
1st: Gabe's blackberry was really mine...
So was Stella's baby.

Bwaahaaahaa! I loved it!

Ok, goodnight. Really! ;0)

Just watched. Didn't think either one was all that great compared to previous weeks. If I were to vote, I'd vote for Josh, simply because he's been the most consistent. He may be a one-trick pony, but the trick is pretty funny.

I was especially disappointed with the way Ty closed his set. I've always been impressed when a comedian can end his set on the biggest laugh of the night. I realize they had time constraints, but you can't just end the set on a pre-planned joke if that joke falls flat. I think the hallmark of a well written routine is when they end the set on a joke that calls back to something from earlier in the routine, thus ensuring a laugh and one that the audience doesn't have to think about. None of these LCS comics seem to be able to do that, at least not yet.

As for the two Last Comic Downloaded guys, the first one was pretty funny but the second one sucked.

Theo performed his K-Fed jokes earlier in the competition, so those were old. Oh, and he was on MTV's Road Rules, and many of the subsequent Real World/Road Rules Challenge specials.

I thought both Josh Blue and Ty were average tonight, they both must be out of material. It should be good to see the previous winners, plus Jay Mohr, back for the finale.

Forget about josh and ty, boy did paul rodriguez stink it up. I was actually chanting, bring back rebecca, just so she could kick him off the stage.

Anthony Clark was NOT funny in the least bit.

Paul Rodriquez was NOt funny in the least bit.

Theo from Road Rules was somewhat funny with the stuff about his old dad.

Ty, WTF are you doing regurgitating material that we have already heard?

Yes, Josh is talking about CP, but it is fresh material from his life. He will win.

I didn't notice Anthony Clarke shaking as much last night, wonder if he is through the DTs, or he just started up again on the booze.

This was the first week I thought josh had an off week. It was close between him and ty this week but josh has been more consitant the last few weeks so I hope he wins. I was really hoping to see something special out of ty. I expected ty to pull out all the stops because he had to know that the odds are stacked against him and only an all time classic performance could win him the crown.

I liked Ty... yeah he reused some jokes, but i found myself laughing at them again. I like his delivery style. But I laughed through most of his set. Josh... didn't laugh once.

They do this show at the same place they do American Idol "hollywood" auditions. In Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Fun facts.

Did Ty's mic get cut off, or did he just end it that flatly?

Put me in the Josh crowd. I like how he incorporates things from the show, yes, he has picked on Gabe more than once, but by using the stuff from the show, it shows his material (some of it at least) is new.

DT's; Alcohol withdrawal - delirium tremens.

Delirium tremens is a disorder involving sudden and severe mental changes (psychosis) or neurologic changes (including seizures) caused by abruptly stopping the use of alcohol.

Regarding Ty, I think his mike got cut off. It ended so quickly.

I hate to go against the grain but, IMHO:

I liked Theo, but hated Josh in the downloaded contest. Sorry, but the "kids walking in on sex" jokes were old in the days of vaudeville, and he brought nothing new to the table. I did like Theo's "70 year-old" dad routine.

I liked Paul Rodriquez, (though everyone has used the "who is going to build the border wall joke"). He made me laugh a few times.

On the other hand, I agree with the growing consensus:

Anthony Clark was so far from funny he can't see funny from where he is standing. And Katrina/Tsunami jokes? Been in a coma (or rehab) for the last year?

Definitely Josh over Ty, but I liked them both. Josh had better weeks, but is still was better than Ty. Ty really hurt himself by recycling. a worthy 2nd place, though.

Finally, I wish they would have cut down on the filler and give each comic more than 5 minutes.

WOW, I had even forgotten that joke. First, like you said, very outdated.
Second, he delivered it like a very weak dinner speaker.

Very little comedy in the 'House' this year, so we are dependent on the stand up stuff.

Anthony Clark was awful last night and he's been awful all series. I really don't understand it because I've heard some of his stand-up and he can be pretty funny. I'll disagree with most, I thought Paul Rodriguez was pretty funny.

As far as Josh and Ty, I think Josh is going to win. But I think Ty has a much higher upside of a career between the two. But I don't fully get the people that think he relies too much on CP jokes. How is Ty making jokes about being black or Rodriguez making jokes about being Mexican really any different than Josh making CP jokes?

lol, and I'm just the opposite. I don't mind the CP jokes as much as the race jokes. Too funny!
The only problem I have with the CP jokes is that so many on the boards are certain that he's getting pity jokes because of the CP. If I were voting out of pity, I'd have voted for Chris because I feel sorry for him doing jokes that weren't funny. Either way, it's frustrating knowing that people think that's what the votes are about when Josh deserves those votes for being the funniest.
