Directv R10 - play all in order

I have a Directv DVR R10 tivo box. Unfortunately from everything I've read this one is unhackable unless you attach a modified prom chip to the board, something I'm not willing to do just yet. It is even all setup with a usb port and everything in the back. I've found it to be a pain to have to wait in realtime to capture my videos to my computer, is there an easier way?

For instance, in tivo I have to play each individual video at a time. So if I have a 1 hour show I just set it up when I go to bed and it tapes, but that only means 1 show a night. Is there a modification or firmware update or something so that I can "play all" of a folder and thus capture a whole bunch of stuff in one night?

There is a TWP module for merging several programs together for the "save to vcr" feature. But, as you correctly stated, a modded prom chip is required for this to be possible.

You could always buy a Series2 non-R10 (like a RCA DVR40, Samsung 4040R) on eBay which is hackable and has the USB ports on back like you need. Those units can be attached to your home network using USB-to-ethernet adapters. I used the Netgear FA-120 which costs around $25.

I can transfer shows from my DTivo's to my PC at about 5-6x normal speed, and the files are converted automatically to mpeg format which can then be easily burned to a DVD disc.

True, however I'd rather just keep using this box if its possible. I suppose they're aren't any tricks that would let me do this, are there?

No. PROM hack or no hack.

Any of these other models that you mentioned on ebay, are they also the directv + tivo boxes, or would I have to have a seperate directv reciever if I went with one of those?
