HR10-250 Green Line when connected with HDMI

I just received my used unit that I purchased from ebay and hooked it up with the red yellow and white cables temporarily until I bought an HDMI cable. Everything was working fine (of course I wasn't receiving anything in HD) and I reset the box yesterday (basically to remove all of his saved shows) and switched it over to HDMI. Now there is a green line about a half inch to an inch wide going vertically down the right side of the tv. The quality doesn't look nearly as good as it did when I had time warner digital cable and a few HD channels. Any suggestions to fix this issue?

Call DTV and have them send you a replacement HDTivo. It sounds like you got one with a bad HDMI card, which is quite common for the earlier models. There are lots of posts on this topic here.

Your HDMI card could very well be defective, but I don't think that the green line is the typical failure folks were seing with the HDMI card.

Weaknees will sell you a new HDMI card for $199 plus give you a $50 credit when you send them yours. Some other company will do it for $100 (do a search and you should find it).

Have you tried the component cables? Most people report seeing no noticeable difference between component and HDMI.

Good luck.

I have a one month old 10-250 and a new Samsung DLP RPTV. For the first couple weeks, everying was fine. Now, on either HDMI connection, I am getting random blue pixels that appear.

At first it was only on the now playing screen, but over the last couple days, it is starting to show up in other seens, such as Roy Firestones hair on his show on HDNet. It does not happen when connected via component.

Here are two pictures of the problem. Any idea if this looks like the HDMI problem, or more likely the TV?

Is your tv made by Philips? Some Philips HDTV's have issues with HDMI connections from a D* HD receiver, specifically a green line going across the screen. I believe Philips has a fix for it though.

Press the right arrow on your TV remote to bring the screen into alignment with your player.
