Well, mine is too!
Thanks to the wonderful people on this board, I was able to read up about the Humax hardware problems and contact Humax support today to get mine repaired. Unfortunately, they stopped repairing it for FREE last week!
What a bummer!
So, here is where I stand. It is a known hardware problem to Humax. You can call and they will immediately know what my problem is. They will want to charge you $50.00 to fix it if older than 90 days (like mine). If you do not have your original box, they will want to charge you $7.00 to ship one. They won't except it w/o one. So, 7 days to get the box, ship it back, wait 10 days to repair it, and then shipping time back to you. I figure close to 20 days.
But get this....be NICE! That's right, be nice. I was and not only are they sending me a replacement (of course it is advanced exchange) but the CSR got the supervisior who took my info to honor the cost even though my unit falls outside of the 90 day warranty period.
Ok, there will be cynics out there who will say, "you aren't getting a deal b/c they should have honored a known defect to begin with...". Well, you're right. But, if courtesy and politeness gets you satisfied and complaining and b*tching gets you nothing. Well.....
In the end, if my family and I are satisfied with the end result and it cost me a kind word and a $250 temporary hold on my CC while they wait for me to send my unit back. I can live with myself.
Ok, I am stepping off of my box.
