Hopefully ya'll haven't answered this question until you are sick of it, but after reading many of the post, I haven't found it so - here goes. I have an RCA DirecTV with a 40GB internal drive. I have several movies that I would like to transer to a DVD disk. One of the options on TiVo is to transfer to VCR, which I do not have. Can I just plug in a standalone DVD Recorder to the TiVo in place of the VCR and transfer these movies? If so, are there any special recommendations that anyone has about the DVD Recorders?

Yes. You can use a standalone DVD burner to do this. just use your a/v outputs on the DVR to plug into a burner...just like you would record a show using a VCR.

There is very little difference between using "save to vcr" and using "play"
