Tivo (DT) crashes a lot...normal?

I just got hooked up June 22 and have been happy as a clam so far. But at random times (It has happened while watching live tv; watching something it recorded; looking at Pictures using the tivo desktop; listening to music using tivo desktop). Once it froze that the screen was a tivo screen, but the remote could not do anything. I had to unplug the tivo to reset.

I thought it happened only when tivo was recording and i was doing one of the above, but that is not the case.... so it is the dreaded "random event".
Oh yeah, the mac does go to sleep on its own, but this has happened whist it slept, was awake, whatever.

My set up:

tivo DT;
Wireless (tivo usb - wirless thingy) (length to the hub is about 6 feet)
Macintosh imac where music and photos live

So, the question is:
Is this normal? Does tivo bring itself down on a regular (6 times today alone!).
Since I use Macs, I am not use to things crashing and expect higher uptimes...

Thanks for links, thoughts and ideas

It's not normal.
Take it back to the place you bought it and tell them you want a new one.

I thought I had read there was a problem with reboots if you have Bonjour running on your network & Tivo Wireless adapter?

It usually only appears when you have a Chat client running like either iChat or Fire. Turning off the Rendezvous/Bonjour messaging in the chat client appears to prevent thsi from happening

Another cause of unexpected reboots on a S2DT box is if you have the on-screen clock "hack" enabled and you're running version 7.2.5 of the TiVo software.

I am the orginal poster....
==
Having read this and the one linked above, I did call in to Tivo about it crashing a lot (yesterday alone 3 times during one show, and one freeze where we had to unplug it from the wall).

Tivo was great about it, they answered the call after only a minute or two. They read the issues, and said to bring it back... bad disk drive.

I just hope this is not something the new DT are known for (I am a first time tivio'er)

I will also post this to the other forum.
