Question Series ONE Wireless Adapter

Hi, all. It appears the modem in my Philips 212 has died. Fortunately, I had already modded my box with a TiVoNet card, so I can get program info through the Internet. Unfortunately, the TiVo now lives in a place where a wired network connection isn't feasible. I tried hooking a D-Link DWL-G820 wireless adapter (802.11g) to the TiVo, but it couldn't make the program call. I know the adapter is configured properly because it works with other devices in the apartment. I know the router is configured properly because I was able to make a program call when I ran a wired line to the TiVo (but again, this is impractical as a long-term solution). I know the wireless signal is reaching the living room because I can connect wirelessly in there with my laptop. The only thing I can imagine is that there's some conflict between the adapter and the TiVo.

Has anyone had any success with a series 1 and the DWL-G820 or another model or brand of adapter? I could always get the weaknees modem replacement kit, but if I'm going to spend that much money, I'd just as soon spend it on something that's more versatile.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Since I am not familar with many wireless model numbers this may be a dumb reply. How does the wireless adapter hook up to your series one TiVo? I thought all of these adapters were either USB or PCMCIA. Series ones do not have a USB port, and unless you get an Airnet TiVo adapter card instead of your TiVoNet a PCMCIA card has nowhere to plug in.

The DWL-820 is a game adapter so it bridges between wireless and ethernet. It should work, the same technique has been used sucessfully for series 2.

Sorry, I could have worded my initial post a little better. I can't connect to the Internet any more through the TiVo modem, but I can connect to the Internet through my broadband network, thanks to the Ethernet port on the TiVoNet card.

And it turns out it does work. I gave configuring the D-Link adapter one more try, and this time, I turned off the proprietary Super G mode. Worked like a charm.

Thanks for your help.

Another option would be to use network connections via the power line (e.g. HomePlug or PowerLine by Netgear, Siemens or other mfgrs). You need 2 modules - one for the TiVo and one connected to a hub. No drivers needed. Works wherever there is an outlet. May be more expensive that your DWL-820 solution.
