Are you asking if a SA Tivo can be connected directly to the satellite cables? No, you'd need a Directv receiver to decode the satellite feed for the SA Tivo.

You would have to start making monthly payments to TiVo, instead of getting a DVR fee on your bill. TiVo fees for a standalone TiVo are higher than for a DirecTV receiver with TiVo service.
