MX-500 Remote and Double Button Presses

I have an MX-500 and for about a month after it was set up it worked perfectly with my HR-10-250. About a week ago it started taking more than one press of the button (sometimes 3 or 4) to get it to do what I want. The remote controls everything else in the rack with no problem and always has. The problem is only with the DirectTiVo. I replaced the batteries in the remote and checked to make sure that all the emitters and plugs were the way they are supposed to be..they are. I am at a loss.

Little help?

Thanks,

Dirk

Did you LEARN your remote from the TiVo remote or did use one of the std codes?

I had a similar issue with my MX-500 and MX-700 remotes. I was getting a double button press on Volume-down only.

I had to re-learn the button and took care to only lightly TAP the button on the TiVo remote until the signal was received by the MX. A full PRESS seems to send a different code (or MX receives and records TWO presses).

I still have a small issue with my MX-700. Works perfectly with TiVo; but, I get a double press on the Channel-Up only in the TV Guide on my HD Cable box (scrolling up thru the channels); Ch-Down works just fine. Looks like I will need to re-learn the Cable remote button (but it does work just fine for normal channel changing).

I have tried re-learning the remote, but I will try again with shorter presses.

Thanks for the quick reply.

It sounds like IR interference, did you add a IR repeater, remote extender, or even possible a IR wireless mouse in the room?

Haven't added anything that I can think of. We do have a wireless mouse but I believe it's RF not IR. The remote is RF which then gets converted to IR for the components.

The problem is only with the TiVo and all of the components were installed at the same time as they were part of a room addition.

Yes, tivos are more sensitive to IR inference then most other components.

Then check your room for other remotes, stuck in a cushion, under a book?

Another thing to try is moving the emitter around. The HR10-250 has an ultra-sensitive IR sensor. I had to place my emitter half way off the IR receiver, and then duct-tape it.

Just play with the location, and then tape it down.

The 6.2 software seems to have fixed the IR sensitivity for SD DirecTivo's.

(I have 2 x MX-700's, an MX-800, and an MX-850.)
