SCIFI's Arabian Nights
Did anyone else see this on SCIFI? I think they showed it this saturday. (or sunday, i dunno. tivo screwed up my TVSchedPsychicSense)
I thought it was pretty good, for a TV Movie. The special effects, as usual, were not the best, but the stories were engaging enough that i don't think they needed that much anyways.

I saw it several years ago when it was on one of the Big Three. I remember enjoying it, although not much of it has stuck with me.

I was just glad when I asked my son to clarify when I thought he said "tonight we're gonna watch Aryan Knights."

I watched the last hour. Surely an odd choice for SCIFI, no? Although I do like me some Mili Avital.
Apparently Aladdin's and Ali Baba's stories were told earlier in the show, before I watched. Dagnabbit.

I didn't watch this one but I did watch SS Doomtrooper the week before. That hurt my brain too much to watch another SciFi movie anytime soon.

Arabian Nights isn't a Sci-Fi Original. It was a mini-series on one of the major networks--NBC, I think. This was back in 2000.
Arabian Nights is far, far better than probably anything Sci-Fi has ever aired as an "Original."

Yes, this was a mini-series back in 2000, according to IMDB. It doesn't say which network, though.

I remember enjoying it very much when I watched it on the original network. The stories were well done.

How so? Most things the station shows are fantasy, not sci fi.

I dunno, I thought their productions of Dune and Children of Dune were pretty decent....

I'm pretty sure they didn't air as Sci-Fi Originals. The minis that they produce themselves usually don't get saddled with that label...

This was another Albert Halmi production, like Merlin, Alice in Wonderland, Gulliver's Travels, Snow White, Earthsea and The Odyssey...all fairly well done, for the most part. Most of them have been out on DVD for several years now.
