So NoTORIous - 4-2-06 "Plucky" & "Whole"
Tonight was the premiere of Tori Spelling's new "Mock Reality Show" on VH1. I wasn't expecting much, except that it would probably be as bad as Kirstie Alley's "Fat Actress" from last year.
I was pleasant surprised. While it isn't as good as comedy can get on TV as of late ("Arrested Development," for example), it did have some genuinely funny moments (the Pink Doughnut and Whole jokes were good).
Tori, like Kirstie, has no problem poking fun at herself. But for some reason it's working a lot better than Kirstie's similar attempt.
Wow, Loni Anderson...what can I say...the movie "Brazil" comes to mind.
SP added on this one.
VH1 is replaying it a lot, so there's plenty of chances to catch it.

Agreed. Pretty funny and better than "Fat Actress". I liked this one a lot. It's a keeper.
I cracked up when they played the Charlie's Angels theme whenever she went to "the mansion".
Loni was great, too!

Loni might have had the Brazil look, but at least she didn't look like a burn victim like Farrah. Woah!
I really liked the show. There was a lot of humor, and the characters were pretty likeable and well developed - unusual for a pilot + 2nd episode of a new show.
I wonder if Tom Cruise will attempt to get "Whole" pulled from the schedule like that South Park. The Scientology referenced were pretty thinly veiled.
I guess they couldn't get the Duran Duran song for the theme - that would have been perfect.

The second episode was a bit uneven with that pseudo-religious stuff. But, overall, pretty funny writing and acting.
I've never watched any of Tori Spelling's shows before. I like her.

This might be classified as a guilty pleasure, but I thought both episodes have been excellent. The writing has been very good, the acting certainly as good as any sitcom needs, and they're not holding back any punches. I think that pseudo-religous stuff was hilarious, not necessarily because it was poking fun at certain cul..., I mean religions, but the choice of words and the humor they pulled out of it. Highly recommended.

I watched tham and I was pretty "ehhh" about them. I do like how she is poking fun at herself and her life. And her gay sidekick Saisan was the funniest character...
I'll keep watching and see if I get hooked. Definitely better than some crap I watch...

Just watched both episodes and I found myself laughing quite a bit. Simple humor. Great show to watch on a rainy Saturday while cleaning.

I watched both of them back to back on Logo last night, didn't even know I had that channel. Stumbled upon it going through the guide, and I found the shows to be real entertaining and humorous. She was on Stern promoting this show and I found her to be real open about who she is and watching her in these episodes was a hoot. Not bad for a Hollywood kid.

I've been watching this recently. It's pretty good. I always like Tori, and it's nice to see she has a good sense of humor about herself and her life.

Count me in as someone who stumbled upon it in one of those "nothing else is on" moments. Found it a pleasant surprise. I never saw Tori in anything before, but she always came across as someone who "gets it" when on Stern. NoTORIous proves that.
Season Pass added.
