What is the largest single drive you can upgrade with?

What is the largest single drive I can easily upgrade my Tivo Series 2 with? (meaning just the basic MFS Tools 2.0, no extra hacks)

Are there any drives to stay away from that are known to be incompatible?

Thanks.

well, you could get a 500 gig seagate from outpost.com for a decent price.

i wouldn't use mfs tools 2.0, because last time i did, i got stuck with a hard drive that would max out at 138 gigs.
i'd use the lba48 cd

the only drive i've heard that is incompatible is the maxtor diamond max 10 drive that was made in 2005, earlier in the year. i have one of these drives and it works fine, so i dodged the bullet (i got it on black friday). other than that, most drives seem to work fine.

Do you people know something about using SATA drives in TiVo, I did not think you could use the SATA type drive; has anybody used a Serial to Parallel converter with success in a upgrade TiVo? I can't find PATA drives over 320G.

There's a few, up to 500GB that are PATA

For example:
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...oryCode=011003

Seagate, Hitachi, Maxtor up there at ZipZoomFly up to 500GB (other brands in some other sizes too)

I've got a 300gb Seagate on its way. Gonna try the TiVo upgrade thing (and if it doesn't work, its going in my server :b)

I'm just still confused over this whole swap thing... but hopefully I'll figure it out (c:
