Tivo upgraded hard drive need to reinstall windows xp on it for some reason!

Hi i need to reinstall windows xp in my tivo upgraded hard drive!It's an western digital 80 gb hard drive do i have to unlock it with diskutil or i can just format it with windows xp setup.. ?

Im trying to install windows xp on an western digital drive that is in my tivo (i instantcaked it) and i want to know if i need to unlock it !

As far as I know Quantum and Maxtor drives have been the only ones that needed to be unlocked. You're not planning on putting this drive back in your Tivo at some point are you?

With XP I don't even think you need to run fdisk first but I could be wrong since I haven't used a Linux based drive to install Windows XP on lately.

you need to fdisk it to put a windows compatible FAT on it then format it.

Not really. The XP install disk will take care of all of that for you. There's no need to run fdisk separately.
