The multi switch is in the attic. The previous owner had time warner cable and each room is fed from the attic...probably not RG6. Any suggestions as to how I can get the picture clearer in the other rooms (without receivers).

Since this was a change in your old setup it could be a lot of things. I assume that you were using the RF (coax) output to feed the other TV's.
1. The installer may have been lazy and used the existing wiring to run the second Sat input to the DTivo. YOU should have checked ALL the operations lncluding on the remote TV. Go up to the multiswitch and look for a coax laying disconnected nearby. If it is one does it go to the TV's in question? If so have the installer come back and install a coax to the receiver. There should be 3 coax connected (2 Sat inputs and 1 RF/TV out). it may cost you a service charge.
2. Make sure the output switch on the receiver is on the same channel as the TV's.
3. Connect a TV directly to the receiver using the coax and make sure the output works.
I aways forget this because it is the most common when a working system stops working. Make sure ALL the connections are tight.
