Question Please help...new and confused

I have 2 receivers(hughes) and I have been able to watch tv in my rooms without receivers as long as I watched whatever was on in the greatroom..this was perfect and My children were able to watch crystal clear satellite tv in their rooms when they had friends over. I got TiVo last week and now the crystal clear picture in each room without a receiver is snowy....Receiver 1 is in the greatroom signal strength is 98% and MBR is 92% where the TiVo is located. The multi switch is in the attic. The previous owner had time warner cable and each room is fed from the attic...probably not RG6. Any suggestions as to how I can get the picture clearer in the other rooms (without receivers).

Check the connections of the cable on either end. My first guess would be a loose connection or perhaps one of the connections started to come apart when disconnected/connected between the receivers.

Is the snow at all like "rows" banding across the screen?

I checked the connections/cables and they seem ok. The "snow" reminds me of the old antenna fed pictures we used to have out in the country. Thanks for the help

Since this was a change in your old setup it could be a lot of things. I assume that you were using the RF (coax) output to feed the other TV's.

1. The installer may have been lazy and used the existing wiring to run the second Sat input to the DTivo. YOU should have checked ALL the operations lncluding on the remote TV. Go up to the multiswitch and look for a coax laying disconnected nearby. If it is one does it go to the TV's in question? If so have the installer come back and install a coax to the receiver. There should be 3 coax connected (2 Sat inputs and 1 RF/TV out). it may cost you a service charge.

2. Make sure the output switch on the receiver is on the same channel as the TV's.

3. Connect a TV directly to the receiver using the coax and make sure the output works.

I aways forget this because it is the most common when a working system stops working. Make sure ALL the connections are tight.

Also, try switching the channel output from 3 to 4, or vice versa. I have seen this before when swapping receivers. One works great, but the new one gets interference from a local station.
