Recommended Canadian TV shows?
Awhile back, SeanC recommended a Canadian series called " Trailer Park Boys." His recommendation intrigued me, so I blindly downloaded the first season and it sat on my hard drive for months until I was cleaning up space and moving stuff to a new hard drive. I had gotten a DVD player that plays DIVX and XVID files, so I was able to watch them on my big TV. It was so awful and funny at the same time, we had to keep watching.
Since these British TV show threads have been popping up lately, I thought I'd throw one out ther for Canadian shows. I'm sure Americans are likely to recognize a good chunk of Canadian actors from appearances in various US science fiction programs taped in Vancouver, BC, and the accents aren't nearly as distracting as some British shows.
Any other recommendations?

It ran from about 1999 until 2005 at 13 eps per yr. It was replaced (continued) as Da Vinci's City Hall

"Puppets Who Kill"
and although it's tame in comparison to TPB and Puppets, "Corner Gas" still makes me laugh!

Twitch City was great, Bravo showed it a few years ago. I keep a wishlist for it but nothing has shown up for a while. It was about a guy who never leaves his apartment and always watches TV, especially a certain Talk Show. It sounds dull but it was very surreal and funny. Lots of familiar Canadian actors.

Does it have to be current shows? If not, I would suggest Kids in the Hall. Most episodes were extremely funny, and they never seem to get old.

It airs in Canada on The Movie Network and Movie Central. I've not seen any info on carriage on any US cable or broadcast station.

Twitch City was fantastic - nice to hear a shoutout for it. The creator of that one, Don McKellar, appears now in the best current Canadian tv show, Slings and Arrows (on Sundance Channel).
Various Kids in the Hall members show up in many Canadian shows. Bruce McCulloch was in Twitch City. Mark McKinney is in Slings and Arrows. Kids in the Hall was da bomb.
Trailer Park Boys is two middle-fingers up. One of the funniest sitcoms ever.
You can find The Red Green Show on many PBS stations. Very funny, very family friendly. Keep your stick on the ice.
An American in Canada has been shown sometimes on PBS. It's a sitcom about an American newscaster who ends up exiled in Alberta. Not as good as the above mentioned shows but not bad.
The Newsroom was a sophisticated, no laugh track, sitcom set in the Washington news bureau of a Canadian tv network. I can't recall where I saw it but it may have been PBS. It was excellent.
The mother of all Canadian tv comedy, and still the world champ, was SCTV. The birthplace of John Candy, Rick Moranis, Eugene Levy, Joe Flaherty, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Dave Thomas, Martin Short and many more. Billy Sol Hurok "it blowed up real good".
It's not comedy but I would also highly recommend DeGrassi Junior High and DeGrassi: The Next Generation.
How about Canadian movies? Not movies filmed in Canada (there are millions of those) but films directed/written by Canadians AND filmed there. Some of my favorites:
Waydowntown
Exotica
Last Night
The Adjuster
The Sweet Hereafter
Canucks aren't bad, eh?

The Red Green Show is brilliant. It's like a cross between Home Improvement and Mr. Bean.
It should be available on your local PBS Station.

Living in Buffalo I've got Canadian TV my whole life. Not much is worth watching on it, IMHO.
Canadian Idol perhaps?
