Can't get the IR to work...

Trying to install my Tivo - 140 hr version with a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 cable box. I'm on my second Tivo box and set of IR cables, but I can never change the channel.

Search through here and tried a few suggestions (moving wands farther away, only using one wand, tenting) etc., but nothing seems to work. Is there another/better solution?

Thanks,

Steve

Are you sure the IR cable is plugged into the correct jack? Look at the emitter through the electronic viewfinder of a digital camera or camcorder while the TiVo tries to change the channel. You should see it flash in the viewfinder.

Does the cable box respond at all to the attempt at channel changing?

What code are you using? Check the compatibility thread.

Figured it out...

Turns out I had the input set incorrectly. I had it coming in directly from the cable, while I had S-Video & audio linking the cable box and Tivo. Changing the cable box channel had no effect on the cable input to the box -- naturally.

Seems to work okay now -- it takes a long time to change channels even on fast. Plus both the cable box and tivo pop-up headers are annoying.

I had the same issue only mine were working and then suddenly stopped. I too tried everything..tenting etc.

What did you find your issue to be?

I have had IR blasters die. Look at them through the electronic viewfinder of a digital camera or camcorder and try a channel change - you should be able to see the flash through the viewfinder.
