Tivo and Directv
I have a Tivo Series 2 which I used when I had cable... now, I have DirectV and i am having issues w/ their DVR R15. Is there any way to hook up my Tivo with the directv receiver and use it?? Or do i need to buy the R10 DVR w/ Tivo? Just curious. I paid for lifetime subscription w/ my tivo but it's just sitting there wasting away.. so i'm trying to figure out what to do.
Thanks for any advice or help!

Yes, standalone tivo is compatible with most DirecTV receivers. Either option: your old tivo with a simple DTV receiver, or a DirecTV combo unit will work.

My TiVos are both connected to DirecTv D-10 receivers which they control using the serial interface. They work fine for me. I don't know if the TiVo can control an R15 or R10, but I am sure someone who does know will answer that part.

let me clarify..
I have the R15 in one room... and the other room just has a regular receiver... that's the room that once had my Tivo. I wanted to add my tivo to that receiver so i'd have 2 DVR's like i had before. How do i hook it up to make it work?

Mine is connected as shown in picture 3 on the referenced page, except I use S-Video instead of the yellow baseband video connector.

I would not expect a TiVo to be able to control an R15, but perhaps I'd be surprised.

I need help with Tivo and DirecTV
I have DirecTV. I've had it for many years. I want to buy Tivo but I don't want the model that DirecTV offers. I'd like to get the Tivo that has and DVD player and burner in it.
If I buy the Tivo I want and buy the lifetime program will it work with DirecTV? I've called DirecTV and I get people who say "I think so...." I want to KNOW before I spend all that money. Nobody gives me a straight answer. Of course, everybody has an angle. DircTV wants you to buy the Tivo program monthly through them. Tivo wants you to just buy the darn thing and I'm stuck somewhere in the middle!
I would like answers from someone out there who will give me answers without angles. HELP!
By the way, the satellite box it would be connected to is a Hughes box. Probably one of the originals. I like it much better than the boxes I have in other rooms which are RCA's.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

That is what I have, the Humax DRT-800. The remote and menus are a little sluggish, but other than that I like it a lot. I just burned two Olympic Hockey games to DVD this morning.

As I said above it works fine with my DirecTv D10 receiver. I see no reason why it won't work with a Hughes receiver too.
