Backfeed
Need some help. Just got my R10 around 2 months ago - love it. I use the S-Video cord to connect to my TV. During the install I had an addition cable ran so I could Backfeed (Same Program) to another TV in the house - But I an unable to do this using the S-Video Cord. I use the S-Video connection because of the improve picture quality over the standard RCA cords. I am too cheap to purchase another box for a TV that is used very little. Has anyone been able to run a backfeed and use a S-Video cord?

You know S-Video doesn't carry audio, right? I don't think there's a practical way to do this (assuming you had another RG6 cable run) than to use the RF output.

Yes, I know that the s-video cord does not carry audio. I was able to run a backfeed by splitting the cable line on another unit in my home, it worked well. The only issue is that I have to watch the same program on both TV's. This is what I want to do with my R10 unit. But I want to use the S-Video output to one of the TV's

You're backfeeding into an existing RG-5/6 cable, right?
Doesn't the R10 have a coax output? If so, then your setup would be the same as before. S-video to your main TV, coax to the 2nd tv.
There some S-Video splitters out there, but I'd have to wonder about the distance that the signal would travel.
Good luck!

Yes...But do you want audio on that TV? Are you just leaving out the fact that you are also wiring audio cables?

Yes, got a RG6 Cable 3 Total - 2 to feed the R10 and one to backfeed to another TV. When I connected the S-Video and the spare RG6 line, It was like the signal cut off to the cable but the S-Video cord still worked fine. The unit is acting like it is either one or the the other. S-Video out OR Cable out.

Just fo clarification: On my backfeed I already have set up. I have one line coming in, runs to the box. One line feeds out of the box, I have a splitter on it. One side of the splitter runs to the tv. The other side of the splitter runs to another TV. I have audio on both TV's

I am simultaneously feeding both s-video and rf out from an R10, and it works just fine. Is it possible you have a problem with the RG6 that you are using to feed the other tv?

I hope not, It would be a real pain to replace the line. I will pull out the entertainment center tonight and trouble shoot the backfeed RG6 line. Thanks everone for your help. I will post tomorrow if I am still up against the wall.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but here is what I'm doing...
I have three DTivos and I have them hooked to the following:
http://www.beachaudio.com/product_in...ducts_id=21129
Each is set to a specific channel and then these are put together with a splitter that then feeds out to my distribution point to send the signal to the other tvs. Any TV in the house can tune to the channes the modulators are set to and watch whatever is on them.

Got it guys !!!! A line running from the R10 S-Video with a Digital Optical for the sound to the Living Room TV. The backfeed runs a RG6 Line from the RF (Channel 3) out to another TV and Sound is transferred in the RG6 line. O.K. that is how I had it set up the first time...The problem was in the 6 foot piece of RG6 that I connected from the wall to the 2nd TV. - This of course was the last piece I checked. Both TV's run the same channel. This is what I wanted without purchasing another Box. The only problem is I have to go to the 1st TV to change the channel. I can live with that. Unless I can figure out how to use the 2nd built in receiver in the R10 to run to the second TV? Hummm........

Can't do it. The R10 may have two tuners, but it will only output one thing at a time.
