Will Directv still honor any deals after cancellation?

I moved about 5 months ago and decided to cancel Directv and go to Comcast which I am sorely regretting. Before I cancelled, Directv offered me a deal on the HDtivo and installation at my new home similar to many of the deals talked about on this forum. Is there any chance they will still honor this deal if I come back and is there any special phone number to call?? Thanks for any info

Don't know the answer to your question, but what did you regret about switching to Comcast? I'm considering the same move - I'm moving next month and would like to not have to put up a dish, run lines, etc.

Did you hate the Comcast HD DVR?

The comcast dvr (dct-6412) is unbearable. Among the most annoying issues is 1) you can't remove any channels from the menu so you have to scroll through hundreds of ridiculous channels 2) fast forward and rewind are completely unreliable - you hit them and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't and it ends up not moving at all or moving too fast all the time 3) although there is a 30 sec button hack there is no back up on the fast forward like tivo and I cannot even remotely get the hang of getting past a commercial without going back and forth (pushing the buttons that sometimes work and sometimes don't of course) 4) the box freezes and/or crashes every couple of weeks (I have two and have had each one replaced twice and one replaced once but the current ones still freeze sometimes)

I had tivo for years before I had directv and got too spoiled by the two tuner directivo which I thought was great. Of course directv is going away from tivo which is bizarre to me but I still have two directivo's and of course would like to still get the deal on the hdtivo. The big killer about comcast is they were offering a great deal for awhile which is almost up and they charge extra for internet if you don't get tv which made directv awfully pricey for me but I just can't stand comcast and I am willing to go to the slower dsl from SBC (which I was hesitant about as well) to get rid of Comcast if I could still get any deal that made sense from directv

The big problem with directv is that it is not cheaper than cable contrary to what they advertise - it is roughly the same with the number of outlets I need, and there is upfront costs that you don't have with cable but boy do I miss it.....

A friend of mine who has never experience the joy of Tivo has this Comcrap DVR. What is the hack for the 30 second skip?

I'm considering the Comcast HD offers. ONLY when the cablecard TiVo is part of it.

To add a 30-second skip to the Motorola 6412:

Press the "Cable" button at the top of the remote to put it into Cable Box control mode.
Press and hold the "Setup" button until the "Cable" button blinks twice.
Type in the code 994. The "Cable" button will blink twice.
Press (do not hold) the "Setup" button.
Type in the code 00173.
Press whatever button you want to map the 30-second skip command to.

Comcast

I have had Tivo since its inception, and I think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. HOWEVER, with my dtivo hddvr I couldn't get hd locals. I finally made the switch to comcast for the locals and I couldn't be happier with the service and with the picture. I have seen the box not react right away to the remote and it doesn't have all the features of Tivo(who does?) but it works just great. Also Comcast will have Tivo at some point fairly soon.
I kept all my D*tv equipment just in case, but I think I am ready to sell it all, Comcast is that good in my opinion.
Bottom line, try it yourself then decide, its the only way.
