Pioneer 810H & Phillips DirecTivo question..

Hello all.
This may sound like the question that has no answer, so here we go:
Just picked up a Pioneer 810H to add to my home theater setup. Adding it to an existing system that already has a Philips DirecTivo (DSR-704). I would like to tie the two together, using the Pioneer to control the Philips (and burn the satellite content to DVD), but it seems that there is no way to use the one to control the other. Spent a little time trying it, even called Pioneer and asked if it was doable, and they said NO. On the one hand, I can see that TIVO wouldn't want one to control the other, but I don't want to step back to a DirecTV stand alone if I can help it, nor pick up a stand alone DVD burner. Is there a remote code that works, or another possibility that anyone has tried, with or without success? I would be interested to hear any ideas!
Thanks!!
