Yes, you should have 150MB of swap. Running the tpip takes but 3 seconds.
Why? If the Tivo crashes (power failure, whatever) depending on what it was doing at the time it might run a file system check. The way FSCK for Linux is writen it uses swap to examine the disk. If you run out of swap, this won't complete. You will then get a GSOD loop. To get out of this situation is complex and you will most likely loose your recordings.
How much risk is that is up to you. Worst case you loose your recordings, reformat (restore) and go on with life.
