Invasion 1/11/2006 (S01E11) "Us or Them"
Mariel handled the news pretty well I think.
But what the heck has the Sheriff got planned; he's just behaving really strangely. So I can only conclude either the show is not going off in the direction I thought, or the show sucks. Or both.
I guess we have to wait and see.

It's almost like Mariel was transformed but somehow kept her goodness more than the rest of these folks. So maybe she is considered the enemy. By the way I wish I could take a bath with a hot chick like Jesse. Dang Larkin and her bad timing.

Same thing I'm thinking. The girl seemed to reinforce that thought a bit with her talk of her sorority sisters and 'us' and 'them' and then showing the newspaper about mssing college girls. Makes me think the girl's the same as Mariel - probably the girl and her sisters were all transformed but while the sisters went 'bad', the girl went 'good'.

Haven't seen the episode yet but maybe there are two factions of 'body snatchers'.

I posted this back on 11/18. Great minds and all that...

So a small town sheriff is so above the law that he can just kidnap the kids? Seems kind of risky, like how is he going to pull all the strings if he ends up in prison?
This episode was middle of the road for me, not good and not bad. I liked how they handled the deputy. He was obviously a bit mentally challenged both before and after the replication, and it was interesting to see how he dealt with things. His faith survived, Mariel's sense of right and wrong survived. Some replicants seem more changed than that.
Kind of strange one of the main characters hasn't turned out to be a surprise replicant. In Battlestar Galactica, there have been some good surprise cylons, but here you seem to always know who is a replicant and who is not.

For my first post ever in this forum, I want to say that I thought this was probably my favorite episode of the season.
I especially loved the tension that was building up between both the son and the sorority girl and the step daughter and the deputy. After the attack in the church parking lot, I was at the edge of my seat wondering if either of them would get violent.
I thought the episodes prior to the hiatus were getting stale. This was a welcomed return.

Great Episode, I think this show is starting to build up some steam.
I am wondering more and more how much the sheriff knows. He lies about everything.

I agree. I think this show is getting better and better. I almost gave up on it early in the season, but now I'm so glad I stuck it out during that early dry spell. This has become one of my top 5 shows.
And the sheriff. Yeah, what a liar. What an evil, rotten, plotting SOB he is. He disturbs me to no end. But that's great television to get that kind of reaction out of me. They did a great job of casting for his role. I think he's become one of TV's foremost bad guys.

What makes him such a great character is that he's not really evil. He seems to think he's doing the right thing. That's a much more plausible villain than your typical rubbing his hands together and cackling with glee bad guy.

"Larkin and her porn." Wha?
Something might finally be happening on this show. This show strikes me as a looooong miniseries where eventful things don't necessarily have to happen in 60 minute, episodic intervals.

Great episode... Funny point I noticed.. Deputy goes into the water and comes out COMPLETELY healed right? His whole freaking arm has grown back.. BUT, women come out of the experience still having Earring holes....
I think we will be seeing more of the sorority sister, she seems a little disturbed (aren't all the ones a little disturbed?!?).
I certainly like the turn the season is taking, we now know that some of the 'hybrids' can go crazy. Now the factions may start lining up. I think the priest might be on the fence as well. He really didn't seem proud of the beat-down the good husband took.

What sort of dumbo would show Mariel a deformed, headless carcass and say "That's you husband" and expect her to believe him?

The same dumbo that believes that his children would be in danger if they go back to the sheriff, but doesn't bother telling his wife to not bring them there. Our ranger is pretty stupid sometimes...
Glad we have a better name for the alien peeps, Hybrid is pretty cool.

Larkin's brother may have thought it was worth a shot since he spent time talking with Mariel and she pretty much admitted to him that she knows something isn't quite right. But yeah, that was kind of strange.

It can be taken much further than that if analyzed to death. In reality, probably every single childhood scar or freckle or wrinkle from life in the sun should be gone for these people. And then there's the whole thing about haircut length - definitely not part of DNA.

I read this scene and Mariel's reaction differently: She knows that it is true, and doesn't want to admit it.
