SAT-T60 Software Version Upgrade

I am currently running 2.5.2. I do not have any problems however I am considering upgrading the software on my system.

My question is what will be the consecuences of upgrading to the newer version.

The reason I have not upgraded is that I heard of all kind of bugs on the newer versions.

Will Tivo start not letting me keep certain programs?

What advantages will I gain?

Thank you for your reply.

Jeez, it's been a long time.

There was not a lot of big changes going from 2.5 to 3. Loss of some backdoor stuff. Some people can't get locals with 2.5.

More options on scheduling (record all, including repeats).
30 second skip keeps skip to tick functions.
The biggie (for me) is the hidden sort options in 3.0.

Here is the list: http://archive.tivocommunity.com/tiv...threadid=66331

What I really want to know if this new version will automatically flag content for deletion or is that only applies to Series2 TiVo's.

I have it upgraded with two 120 GB Hard Drives and my concern is that after I upgraded will start flagging past recording for deletion.

Can anybody shed some light into this?

From what I can understand, the "flagging recordings for deletion" on the series 2 was due to misconfigurations by a few local ota stations and one small cable headend, which have since been corrected.

Since directv sets and encodes it's own signals for re-transmission, you should never see those problems.

I've got boxes running 2.5.2 and 3 and have never had a problem with the "flags".

it was long ago but i can't remember any negatives to letting the t60 upgrade. I'm sure if it made me angry i'd very well remember. Though the only 'hacks' i do are the SORT and 30 skip. I've been very happy with the machine and much faster guide than my HDtivo.

I probably never had 2.5.2, since I only got my SAT-T60 18 months or so ago. I think I've only ever had 3.x. However, I like it so much that I'm adding another one and hope to add one more soon.

I say go for it.

The final bug fix for 3 fixed the bugs you are referring to.
The latest and last version for the T60 is 3.1.0c2.
Mine has been working just fine since that upgrade, when ever it was.

Yup, that's what I've got on my SAT-T60 Jim. It works great.
