From what I can tell, TiVo seems to be strangely quiet at CES. Other boards are buzzing with speculation that it must mean there's going to be something big at Macworld.

I'll buzz with speculation that they'll not have come up with anything worthwhile to demonstrate.
I'd love to be proven wrong.

They could be busy trying to write all the software they have already promised.

In addition to the SA CableCard HD TiVo. Shouldn't they also be demontrating TiVo running on a Comcast Motorola DVR by now?

Yes but then again I found it sort of odd that Comcast also had a press release about a new set of boxes they have coming out with different DVR software from someone else.

Which means they should probably be demoing it at CES now.

Is TiVo not at CES this year?
Or do they still have Tarps up over their area?
I would think by now... One of the many Forum users that are at CES would have gone over to the TiVo area to at least see what was there..
(Note: Of course that doesn't mean TiVo WON'T announcement something by the end... but it is at least day 2)

Maybe the people working the Tivo booth went gambling last night, lost lots of money and to drown their sorrows got really drunk on all the free drinks and are now all passed out in their rooms?

I have always loved Tivo from the start. My wife loves them. I have 2 HD Tivos and very happy with them. But it looks like its coming to an end. Oh sure, they willl come up with something but the past 12 months have been very sad indeed. HD and content to go is every where and it just appears that all the players are doing it without Tivo. I know Directv had some announcement but they key is, Tivo is no longer the main DVR player. That Comcast unit and cable card unit should have been available for CES. I have now officially come the conclusion that Tivo is done in my house. Not because they HAD great products, but there is nothing for tomorrow.

Am I missing something? The Series 3 SA HD with dual tuners and supposedly will work with all cable systems and Tivo2Go, etc. seems like a good 'tomorrow' product to me. If this comes out this year, and it works with my cable as advertised, I will sign up for 5 years of Tivo service. My ONLY concern is I hope they can price the box at a point that they will sell the crap out of them.
I will leave D*TV in a heartbeat to get HD + Tivo and not go to a non-Tivo D*TV box. I too think D*TV misjudged this one, and maybe thought that saving on licensing fees, they could just go create their own DVR and it would be accepted by the majority of users, and that those who complained would be a small percentage.

It appears that TiVo did it right. I have been waiting for a DVR that would use eSATA and Ethernet, and the Series 3 appears to have gone that way. Now why to all of the other DVRs have to be so lame?
