Refurbed DRT 800?

Is there anyway to tell if the DRT 800 from Humax is a refurbished unit from the UPC bar coded label on the box.

Don't know, but I'm thinking that mine may be a refurb, too - the black plastic on the front panel wasn't pristine (not bad, but noticeable). They should have been up front about this. I probably would have bought it anyway, even if they had disclosed this. I'm actually a bit pissed off that they didn't.

I actually have not even received mine yet. It's an Ebay deal and although it's on its way all I have so far is a photo of the barcoded label.

On one part of the label it has SKU: R59580 and so I am wondering if the R in front of the SKU number means refurbished.

Drt800f

Luckily or unluckily, I have been on the phone with tivo and Humax pretty much all day and have found out that the DRT800F is the refurb model. Most people have found that this is the model that works for them.

Another usefull forum to go to is the Tivo sight, there you will see the many many people that have been having issues with the DRT800. The solution to this is of course to have humax send you a new one (DRT800F). This takes 4-7 days and you can keep your current Tivo until the new one arrives. A temporary fix to this until your new one arrives is to place a 2.5" piece of tinfoil just below the IR receiver on your DVR. This helps a little.
