Need Multiswitch?

I have an elliptical dish with the built in multiswitch and four outputs but only have two coax runs coming into the house. I need one for my HD receiver and have just gotten a standard TiVo and would like to have two connections for it to use the dual tuners. As it is cold and snowy on the roof I don't want to make another coax connection now. Can I use a multiswitch in this case? What do I need and how do I connect it? Three retail stores have told me I just need a 2 way satellite tv splitter but that failed when I tried it. I need some real advice. Thanks.

You should be in the DirecTV w/TiVo forum. You have no choice but to run another line (4 total are possible) from the outputs of the dish. A multiswitch won't help at all in your situation, and splitters do nothing. You can read the details in a sitcky in the forum I mentioned (ight below this one in the main page.

You need to run at least one more coax to the dish. That is the only way.
