"Flat Wire" Alternatives?

Does anyone have recommendations for threading DTV and/or antenna wires through door/window frames in apartments? DTV provided some "flat wires" for my patio door but one has already failed.

Thanks in advance!

The only alternative to flat coax is the round stuff. Maybe you could drill a small inconspicuous hole.

Circuit City used to sell something similar when they sold the RCA Brand cables, but not sure if they sell them anymore. Radio Shack used to sell a very small diameter round coax with F type connectors on each end. I actually have couple of those cables. They are about 1/8" diameter. Don't know if they are still available.

I think he is wondering if there is another option besides flat cable. Your right, they do fail a lot. I went through 5 of them last year on our patio door setup at the apartment before we moved into our house. If you are using them on something that you open and close all the time, they are going to crap out on you. I figured something out though, if you unscrew the frame of the patio door and run the flat cables under that, basically in between the door frame and the building frame, you don't run into them failing as they are not opened and closed upon constantly. Your other option is to just drill holes to get the lines in.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I am having trouble because I am entering the apartment through the patio door that I use frequently.

Both items referred appear to be consistent with what DTV provided me. Luckily they left me couple extra.

Next up...work around the door frame.

Thanks!
