Quantum Leap

This was the show with Scott Bakula travelling thru different time periods right? They're showing a few episodes tomorrow, Friday, 12/16/05 on the Sci -fi channel. Does anyone remember the name of the show where the guy would get a newspaper to his front door every morning and in there it would give him the headlines of an event that would happen later? Then he would have the capability to change the future?

Let me guess.
You and Allie are going to get together and try to decide who looks better shirtless, Scott Bakula or Kyle Chandler?

You never get to see Kyle Chandler shirtless, if I recall.

QL is my favorite all time show....and when EE came out, I fell in love with it because it reminded me of QL.

Shirtless? Not sure who I'd go with on that. Both Scott Bakula and Kyle Chandler are hot, in their own right.

You might get to see Kyle Chandler shirtless in "Pure Country". If you guys decide to examine them closely for hottiness, I want in.

This is a weird thread. I'm not sure if it's actually about Quantum Leap or about Early Edition.

Re: Quantum Leap - I wonder if the supposedly planned revival of the series is completely dead at this point. Supposedly, SciFi Channel had the rights to create a "re-imagining" of the series, a la "Battlestar Galactica." But that was probably a year and a half ago now... I'd guess if we haven't heard anything by now, it's probably not going to happen.

There was also talk about a QL movie, with the original cast - but as more time passes, I don't know if this is a good idea either. Bakula could still do it, but Stockwell is really starting to show his age, and no longer really resembles Al Calavicci as we saw him during the series. I suppose it's a show about time travel... they could write something into the story that explains time passing in the QL world, but still, it wouldn't be the same as if they would've done it a lot closer to when QL was originally on the air.

As for Early Edition - is it just me, or does anyone think that Early Edition and Tru Calling were esentially the same show? I mean, both shows involved the main character being told about a problem about to happen through supernatural means, and given a finite amount of time to solve said problem... and basically encouraged not to inquire as to the nature as to why/how they were told... both had a close companion or two that knew about the early notice that sometimes helped out to prevent the disaster... etc. Interesting, no?

Yeah... CBS really pissed me off by cancelling Early Edition with no ending. It was a good show, A couple more seasons would have been nice.

Come on, follow the lead.

QL was recorded this morning and I now have a SP for Early Edition. It's showing on the Pax channel every nite at 9.

I always wanted to watch EE but for some reason never did. It must have conflicted with something. I saw a couple of episodes here and there. That's one I would probably grab as a cheap DVD set. I never watched TRU Calling either.

I've heard those talks for so long, I'm also doubting it will ever happen. Last year SciFi did a complete run-thru of the entire series, which was great TiVo fodder for me. Love the evil leaper episodes.

I got a SP for QL and EE. I couldn't quite get into QL, but the kid and I are really enjoying watching EE together.

QL has always made me feel like an idiot. My mom watched it and liked it, but when I was a kid (when it originally aired) I thought the idea of a hologram was stupid so I did not watch the show. Then I get into the Army and a roommate of mine was a big fan of the show, I gave it a chance and really liked it. Wish I would have gave it a chance when my mom was watching it, would have been nice watching it with her.

New GF likes the show too, will probably head out and get the DVD's sometime soon.

I have QL on my wish list. I LOVE Scott Bakula and he was also great in Star Trek. I would love to learn that Sci fi is doing at QL marathon. They have done that in the past. I do have season one, two and three on dvd thanks to best buy gift cards.

TV.com says it's Mirror Image, which seems correct. It's a great final episode.

I recorded Pure Country when it ran on CMT last week, so I'll let you know what I find when I get around to watching it.

The series finale was great and made me cry. But I believe the notes at the end said Sam never made it back home. It was so great that he gave up his chance to go home for Al to be happy with the only wife he ever actually loved.

But I still can't exactly figure out what happened in that episode.

I read somewhere that Mirror Image was never intended to be the last episode. It was intended to be a cliffhanger but the series did not get another season so it was slightly edited to appear as a series finale

Yikes, unicorngoddess, you might want to "spoiler-ize" that post for people who haven't seen the final episode of Quantum Leap yet. (I have, but some others have not!)

IIRC, the season finale had Gary do more of a Quantum Leap. Kind of like Gary did ok with the paper, and got a promotion to do other things. It would have been really nice if they had actually been able to tie it to QL, by having Scott Bakula or Dean Stockwell in it.

I have a SP for Early Edition. I think it's a nice, safe show I can watch with the kid. Last week there was an article in the paper (in the show) that read "fire at landing strip." Gary and the kid thought it was at an airport. It was a strip club! In another show they showed how the newspaper thing had been passed down from someone else to him.

Early Edition was an extremely sweet show without being overly saccharine and unwatchable. Generally likeable characters doing good things with a never-really-explained supernatural twist. I liked it. Didn't see the entire FIRST run, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them all on the Family Channel or other syndication.
