Tivo out of synch.

I just gave my mom a SA S1. She has cable with no cable boxes. Basicly what happens is the tivo Live tv is 5 seconds out of synch with other tv's with just the cable wire coax hooked to them. It drives my sister nutz when the tivo live is on in the living room and she is live in her room on the same channel. You can hear the out of synch shows and it is an echo like sound. Is there a way to correct this or is that just how it is?

NO! You cannot fix it. TiVo is recording all the time and when you are watching "live" you are really watching a recording that just happened. It will always be behind a source that has no recording.

The way to correct it is to put TiVos on the other TVs too.

I did not want to satart a new thread, as I have a similar issue, but not exactly.

It seems my TiVo is about 1 minute faster than either "real" time or my cable companies time. So my recordings start early and end early, but record the whole 30 minutes. I lose the final moments of many programs. I do not want to go and adjust the times on all of my season passes to remedy this, as it will take a long time, plus it would not help TiVo suggested recordings. Is there a way I can change the time of my TiVo? Or make everything record a minute longer with one adjustment? I am guessing my cable co. is delaying the programs somehow, maybe in a cheap ploy to make people use their PVRs.

The clock should be set with the daily call.

To see what the clock on the TiVo is in realtime, enter Select-Play-Select-9-Select.
This puts a clock in the lower right corner of the screen.
To remove the clock enter the sequence again and then go to a menu.

Did you try a reboot?

I rebooted via the menu restart, is that any different than unplugging?

Thanks for the clock info, I will check to see what it is displaying.

My TiVo clock is within about 1 second off from the TV guide channel, and about 2 seconds according to the clock on the cablebox banner. So I don't know where the problem is coming from.

Thanks for the help so far, and let me know if there is something I am still missing.

Sounds like there's nothing at all wrong with your Tivo, it's just the cable company screwing it up for some strange reason. You could see if your Tivo agrees with your local "time & weather" phone service too.

Either cable co or networks. Many are notorious these days for starting a little late and running long. The only way to deal with it is pad your recordings accordingly.

ABC has at least made one effort in that Lost is now often scheduled for 1:02 or up to 1:05. Now, you'd think they could just trim a few commercials to make up the difference, but of course that would cut into their revenues.
