I'm not using a TiVo anymore, but I had noticed that the first couple of episodes had no title. I saw today that the Tuesday episode does have a title (I get my data from Schedules Direct), so hopefully the recording issue will be resolved. The issue of whether the show's content is a good match for you is still another issue...

I don't even like Wil Wheaton on the commercials for this show.

i'm out for now - i semi-enjoyed the first ep, the second seemed much more snarky than funny. i'll give the show a chance to settle and try it again later.

Not resolved - at least not yet.
Because of the new ep titles, I set up a season pass for new eps only and it still wanted to record everything. Have to stick with the tuppered ARWL.

I really enjoyed the first episode. The second one was kinda so-so. I watched them back-to-back, and a few of the jokes in the second episode seemed like stale rehashes of the first. Too much John Malchovich and Salem.

The Game of Thrones joke in the second ep wasn't funny. It took too long to get to the punchline. Spoilerizing for anyone who hasn't watched GoT yet (is that anyone?).

Spoiler:

Just putting up the GoT title, and then showing Gallagher smashing watermelons would have been funnier than wading through the Mountain/Oberyn head crush scene and then showing Gallagher smashing watermelons. Viewers of Wheaton's show are sophisticated enough to make the connection.

Personally if I was the writers, I would have probably gone with a Princess Bride Inigo Montoya joke instead for the segment.

I watched the second episode and then the first on VoD.

It's entertaining enough that I'll keep the SP but won't mind if the ep gets deleted for space.

I think the featured segments like "How will he buy it?" will get better. Felicia Day iz teh hawt in that short red hair.

BTW, there was no dupe problem on UVerse.

The problem is that only the first showing has full episode data. All of the others have "generic" data so that they get picked up by an FRO SP because it doesn't know if they are "new" or not.

Who cares? And what would the U-verse DVR (obviously not a TiVo) have done if there were a conflict with the first showing?

Prince Oberyn = Inigo Montoya. Perhaps it would have been too sophisticated a joke after all.

UVerse probably uses time-slot based VCR-like recordings??

Nope. It records by title, and like TiVo you can say at this time, this day of week (which is the default) or change it to any day, any time which I always do.

UVerse does have some strangeness like if you try to record a show on the schedule 3 or more weeks out it tells you have to manually record it and then doesn't really help much with a manual record setup.

Well, you actually agreed with me.. the default IS more like a VCR recording.

That is nothing like how a TiVo SP works.

Since only the first showing has episode specific information, how do you know that you are selecting a re-run of the current episode rather than a previous episode?

I haven't read this thread, but watched the show last night for the first time.

Oh my.

I am sorry it was just very bad. So much it hurt.

I started watching the second episode, and both Wil and the audience seemed better, but the problem was that I don't really watch a single thing that he was talking about, so I kind of gave up. I still have it, but I'm on the fence as to whether I will finish watching it.
The audience felt it was about 10 people and they were in his living room.

This was episode 3? I haven't seen it yet, but if the decline from 2 to 3 was as bad as the decline from 1 to 2, then he's in trouble.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure there isn't an audience. It's a laugh track.

That said, I'm enjoying it.

There's definitely an audience:

https://twitter.com/wilw/status/471773694805557248
It's a small audience, and by the sounds of it it may have gotten smaller since the first episode (the one pictured in the tweet above), but an audience nonetheless.

I finally got around to watching the third episode... I think I enjoyed it the most of all the episodes so far.

The best thing about the episode was having Wil leave the studio for a segment. While the "The Soup" type of stuff that he's been doing on the show so far works OK, I think it would work better if that stuff were just one segment of the show instead of the whole thing. The rest of the show should have him doing other stuff, like he did here when he visited Stoopid Monkey Studios.

I also liked the smaller audience, mainly because it was more muted. When they responded to something, it was because it was worth responding to. It didn't feel as forced as the audience did on the first episode. I like an audience that sounds like it is just a group of friends over laughing appreciatively at the jokes, because it feels more authentic.

Not sure what episode, but he did go to visit Seth and the set for Robot Chicken - that was interesting but the rest was bleh. And the audience sounded like he was performing in someone's living room at a party.

I didn't like what sounds like a laugh track, i.e., the audience laughed at everything. But I am still sticking with it for a while. I am not bothered by spoilers.

I watched the Hodoround and Robot Chicken episode yesterday. Enjoyed it. I'm keeping it for now.

Starting tonight, SyFy has swapped timeslots, putting The Wil Wheaton Project before Heroes of Cosplay. I have no idea whether this is to boost ratings for one show over the other, or to reward the better performing show, nor which hour is the preferred one. Both shows are kinda painful to watch at times, but I'm staying loyal to both just for the crumbs of enjoyment.

I just watched episode 3. I felt it was the very definition of unfunny. He even manages to make GoT seem dull. Wheaton needs writers.

I too enjoyed the robot chicken segment, but I found it to be more informational than humorous.

I thought the bit at Robot Chicken was actually the worst part of the episode, because they didn't actually do or show anything. It was like they went on a tour of all the rooms at the Robot Chicken studio, and as soon as they got to a point where they were just about to learn something interesting, the tour guide shuffled them out of that room and on to the next one.

I happened across an airing of this show yesterday. I went to On Demand and started watching the show from the beginning. I like it. It is for sure not the greatest show ever made, but I find it entertaining.

I have not seen the most recent Walk Dead episodes. So, I got seriously spoiled on that show. I would like to avoid spoilers, but don't really care if I see them. Definitely not a show for people that hate spoilers and are behind on shows.
