There's no excuse for this kind of busted behavior in their CORE functionality when it used to work fine on Series 2 (and I think 3 - I never remember having these issues on Series 1, 2, or 3).
I just searched Firefly. A show named Firefly was first on the list. The 10th Anniversary show you are looking for came up 2nd.
I searched for Browncoats and got the same result as you, which looks accurate to me. It's doing intelligent matching -- searching for exact title match, words-in-title-match, keywords in episode description or episode name match, etc. And then it ranks the results according to how you tell it to (defaulted to Best Match I think).
I'm guessing you fat-fingered Firefly if you literally saw 0 results. You rarely have to type in an entire show title before it finds what you are looking for. Typing in just "FIR" yields that 10th Anniversary show as result #3.
