Ann Curry out as host of the Today Show
Existing thread over in Happy Hour, which I know many of you don't read. But since this is TV watching news, forgive my cross-posting...

Sounds good to me. I'd much rather have Savannah or Natalie be the host with Matt.

It's kind of a shame cos I thought Curry was great as the newsreader and second fiddle - just not so much as the front dog.

I always thought the same, and a lot of the articles on her move out do mention that, it's just the shallow light morning show banter she could never manage, her actual journalistic chops are ok.

Oh happy day! There isn't one thing that she does that doesn't annoy me... like when she whispers whilst reporting serious topics.

There is a rumor that Regis and Kathy will be reunited for the 5th hour.

Al Roker comment hits close to home for "Today" show
Quote:
During Thursday's show, Roker, Matt Lauer and newcomer co-host Savannah Guthrie were chatting with members of the U.S. women's rowing team. During the interview, they mentioned the tradition of a winning team throwing their coxswain into the water.
Lauer mentioned how the tradition in New York is to throw her into the Hudson River. Then Roker quipped, "Which is different than our tradition, which is you throw one of us under the bus, but that's another story."

So far this thread is in the lead for the most random thread resurrection of the year award.

I agree with Angie - I've avoided The Today Show because of her - she single handedly ruined the Thanksgiving Day Parade coverage for me this year. Just so NOT inviting.

I just had to share.
She said a couple of things late in the show today that just made me think MAN she must be a real blast to deal with. Several of them were in the cooking segment. Although of course I can't think of any of them right now off the top of my head.
She just seems aloof to me.
I don't usually watch-I should probably add that. But I have been following the Ann Curry/Matt Lauer/Samantha Guthrie circus in the online tabs.

I just accidentally called her Samantha and I don't care enough to fix it.

It seems that Savannah is scared to death to take a vacation day for fear of being replaced.
I'd like Morales to take the co-anchor spot if only to get her away from the news desk to avoid her "thaaaaaaaaaanks" she blurts out after talking with correspondents.

Donny Deutsch really stepped in it this morning. How could he be an image consultant, and be on the wrong side of every single issue. The it's not about race comment about Beyoncé lip synching was just odd. No one mentioned race idiot way to train wreck a segment. Then the same for Prince Harry killing Taliban. Even Matt Lauer cringed at your idiocy. My wife actually used the word troll to describe him. lol,
