Because it's the Bradys. I think our generation will always have some level of fascination with that show and the cast/characters.

Plus, Marcia....

"The Bradys" was a darker, grittier "Brady Bunch". Yes, seriously. In addition to the above, Marsha was an alcoholic.

Then there's "The Brady Bunch Variety Hour" from the depths of 70s variety show hell.

The cast was a big (huge) part of it.

Creating a new show and calling it the Brady Bunch with a whole new cast will never work.
Getting the entire cast back (except for Mike Brady) for a mini-series or a movie would draw huge numbers.

Nobody mentioned the short lived series "The Brady Brides" which followed Marcia and Jan after getting married. Classic TV!

My memory of them is vague. I watched them probably about 10 years ago when they aired on TVLand or TBS......I forget.

This was my favorite part from Wikipedia:

It was something to do with compare your favorite parts of your wife's body to the favorite parts of fried chicken..and Phillip (Jan's strait-laced husband, yes, I am so proud that I remember this) went nuts and started yelling "Thighs and chest! Thighs and chest!" But when he said "Chest" he pointed to his thighs and when he said "Thighs" he pointed to his chest. This is a big joke in my family whenever we eat chicken.

Oh, the things we remember...

I also remember on The Brady Brides that Jan got engaged first and that freaked out Mike and Carol, they thought Marcia should get married first. I thought, WTF? Have we gone back to biblical times? Then that day or something Marcia met some guy and got engaged right away. Then all was well.

Of course, Jan wanted a super traditional wedding and Marcia wanted a really modern wedding, and they HAD to have the wedding together... But of course, it worked out in the end...

Yes, I watched waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much Brady-related TV as a kid.

Sorry, but if the original series or movie was part of my youth then I give three thumbs down to reboots.

That is, if the Partridge Family lived without any adults in a treehouse (you never saw the Bradys inside their house - for that matter, you never saw the house; in fact, in one episode, they had a TV delivered to the treehouse, so it must have been wired for electricity somehow). I'll overlook the fact that Greg and Cindy went to the same school as they don't say how old Greg is (I don't think he ever drives a car), and they might all go to a K-8 school.

They were on The Newlywed Game; in a practice round at home, Jan and Philip were asked, "What is the husband's favorite part of the chicken?"; she said, "Thighs and breast," but he said, "Face," because he couldn't bring himself to say "thighs and breast" in public.

IIRC, it was just Carol that wanted Marcia to get married first so badly; it was done so they could have a flashback to the original show's episode when Jan was extremely jealous of Marcia.

I think the "Partridge Family" connection is that the producers kept thinking they could turn the Brady Bunch into a musical family. The original series had several songs, and the animated series and variety show had songs in every episode.

The problem was that the only ones who were actual singers were Robert Reed and Florence Henderson. The kids were not hired for their singing or dancing ability, and boy, it shows. In the Partridges, everyone except Shirley Jones and David Cassidy were dubbed.

And for more 1970s TV hell:

Brady Bunch - "Sunshine Day" (Cartoon)

I knew Filmation's animation was bad, but wow, this is low even for them. Not only is everyone doing the endless loop but they don't even cleanly edit the loops together. The background and characters jump when the loop restarts. And it's not even all new animation. They just put the Brady kids over the Archies:

I should add that for anyone who hasn't seen the 90's movie of The Brady Bunch, it's a fantastic movie and very well done. The two follow ups weren't so good.

aadam101, you know by tattling on the two follow up movies, you're really just tattling on yourself. By tattling on those movies, you're just telling us that you're a tattletale. Now is that the tale you want to tell?
