New Girl "Models" (10/23/12) [SPOILED]

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a full blown commercial as product placement before. (Is the Ford Fusion nuclear powered?).

The funniest line I heard was when fat Schmidt said that his favorite rapper was Brian Austin Green.

It was nice that the scene with young Schmidt and young Nick made pretty clear why they became friends. Even if Nick was throwing stuff at him, he still seemed to like that this kid was just wack. I didn't really feel like he was laughing at him.

Loved the whole Schmidt/Nick thing: fantastic, both young and current. And boob slapping? Is that a thing? The rest of the models storyline was kind of "meh" for me though. I did laugh at the Russian cartoon Jess.

By the way, my son LOVES dry Ramen! Yikes!

I've seen a recipe that uses dried ramen as a crust for fish. I've always wanted to try it.

I can't decide if the fact that the product placement was so blatant makes it easier to handle or harder.

Nadia to Jess:
Monkey Cracker!
Monkey Cracker!
Monkey, Monkey, where's your crackers?

I liked the whole Jess being compared to the Russian Monkey Cracker subplot was pretty funny, especially with her dancing in front of the models at the club.

Nadia is awesome in small doses.

Great episode all around.

So much to enjoy in this episode, but Nadia's delivery in this line made me lose it:

Jess: All these racist in-jokes about Romanians? Well guess what? I'm 1/8th Romanian.
Nadia: Monkey no!

My wife makes a great bok choy salad that has dry ramen as one of its ingredients. It's crushed up and sauteed in butter with almond slices, and makes the salad awesome. With homemade ginger sesame dressing.

I liked Nadia's line "we let the Dogs Out, and kidnap a gypsy" a la Borat.

No, and, in fact, most Fusions are not hybrids, although the spokesman made it sound like they were. (In fact, he mentioned that there are Hybrid and "Energi" (Ford's name for the Chevy Volt-style "plug-in" model) versions, but made no mention of the strictly gasoline-powered ones.)

I wish my 2010 Fusion Hybrid got 47 mpg; I'm lucky to get 33, although almost all of my driving is at 65 mph, and city mileage tends to be much better with a hybrid.

And was it just me, or did they do something with Zooey's hair that makes her, well, "less adorkable"?

She went bang-less. It really changed how she looked.

I liked Nadia with the Wilmer Valderrama non-lookalike. A good reference back to the episode where she was listing the things she loves about America and Wilmer Valderrama was one of them.

I read somewhere recently that she thinks she a huge forehead and that's why she always wears the bangs. Without them, yeah, she looks almost like a completely different person.

I finally got to watch this. I literally spit during the entire mamma bird argument. That was the highlight of the season so far for me.
